1.7 is too much for Clifford on the 4th line. Pesce won't come that cheap at all, Carolina refuses to move him. Toronto couldn't get him last season, would have been more likely to get Faulk

Respectfully,
Two young players on reasonable contacts that can easily slot into 2nd or 3rd line roles might in fact just be close enough to get it done, in my opinion.
Clifford made $1.6M last year and word is he's looking for 3 years at $2M, so...
Carolina is flush with defencemen at the moment (Slavin-$5.3M, Hamilton-$5.75M, Skjei-$5.2M, Gardiner-$4M), and decisions to make on others (Edmonston, Van Riemsdyke, Vatanen).
Does the deal make more sense if Toronto throws in Bracco, lol.

Unless Clifford takes a big discount (<1M) Leafs let him walk. It's not worth a 2nd round pick for a solid 4th liner. How many teams would give up a 2nd for Engvall?

Carolina is flush with forwards too. Frankly, Staal is significantly better than Kerfoot playing 3C. Offensely slightly less proctive, but defensively fantastic. No need for Kerfoot.

And where does Johansson fit? Foegele's production is very close to his. Grittier game to boot.

So the Cane's net maybe 10-15 POINTS in this deal, take on $2 million in cap all while moving one of the best stay at home D in the league?

It's a terrible offer even including Bracco. And I am a Leafs fan!

You may want to look at Carolina's lineup for next year. They absolutely do not need another 7 million dollars invested in their bottom 6 forwards, especially for two 5 ft 10 forwards that will each pop about 15 goals a year. And offering a 5 foot 9 forward who is increasingly looking like a career AHL'r does not make a difference, although it is pretty consistent with the majority of trade suggestions made on this site for a top tier defensemen (some combination of Johnsson, Kerfoot, Dermott, and Bracco). Might as well include a 2023 7th round draft pick to really seal the deal.

Unless the injury pesce received makes him play bad that will not get him. Throw a 2nd and a dermott in there and Carolina may accept. As for clifford if he wants that much toronto says no thanks good bye 2 years at 1 million is fair for him.

Johnsson aint an AHLer lul he can play on anyline in the nhl and can potentially score 20 goals a season if he stays healthy. this year he was just injury prone it can happen to anyone. If he stayed healthy he would have probs had 15-20 goals even without being with matthews. As for kerfoot its his first year as center and on a new team. If he stays for next year expect better numbers from him. While I agree the trade being presented is not worth pesce we dont even know how well pesce will recover from his wrist injury and shoulder surgery. We will just have to wait and see. As for how I would fix this trade i Would Add dermott and a 2nd with conditions it becomes a 1st if pesce scores 10 goals or something.

15 to 20 goals does not mean he can play on any line in the NHL. What it means is he's a strong 3rd liner or he can fill in a gap in the top 6.

It actually likely nets them a negative number on the GF/GA +/- loosing Pesce will dramitcally increase the teams goals against. Also likely increase the time spent in their own zone thus contributing to less goals for as well

You are just wrong. This is about as accurate as Carolina offering you back Gardiner as well as Niederreiter for Nylander. Nino is a solid 2-way physical forward that can play middle 6 on either side. Gards is very familiar with the Toronto system and team, he would fit like a glove. Toronto is very top heavy and this would spread out their depth better. It also gives them a more solidified defense.

Now tell me would you accept this deal? Probably not, This is how Carolina feels about your offer.

I'd stay away from Pesce, he's extremely overrated on this website. You'd think he's the second coming of Bobby Orr with what his supposed value is
