I think lots of team would...Edmonton still comes to mind for me. Chiasson for Hornqvist could maybe make some sense if you workshopped the pieces around to balance it out?
I wouldnt hate Hornqvist on the Avs at the right price but they just dont have the roster space to add him, and it would sort of a move just to make a move

Yeah I guess Edmonton could work. They already have Kassian though. I was thinking Hornqvist to Boston before they got Kase, he plays the type of game. Toronto could use a guy like him, they just don’t have the cap.

Not being a mesh on the ice has nothing to do with what I said. I can (as close as anyone not Crosby can) guarantee you that if Hornqvist says, "you know what I think?" Crosby turns to Hornqvist and listens.

Horny is a character guy who works his arse off, so I guess that’s a reason for Sid to listen to him.

    didnt notice the salary retention,

Regardless, they have guys already that fit that role that they like, I just dont see a huge desire to do the move. Its not a big enough game changer IMO to their middle 6 when they have lots of guys that provide that type of impact, Kadri, Namestnikov, Donskoi, Burakovsky, Compher...plus they really like Kaut, eventually you just are too full int he middle 6. Nichushkin wouldnt even get a top 9 role in this scenario and hes been great

Nickushkin was a great free agent signing by Sakic and Namestnikov was a really good TDL pickup, your GM isn't a moron like so many are.

I was hoping the Pens would pick up Namestinkov instead of the more expensive worse Sheary. Unfortunately, the front office is extremely arrogant & blind.

It’s a smart front office and a solid advance analytics
    Department

They targeted cole, burakovsky, Namestnikov for a while and eventually land them. Won’t be shocked that they offer Namestnikov an extension. Guys they like they make sure they eventually get in the end

My gut tells me domI is next, apparently Sakic and his team
Went hard after him when he was available in Arizona. If Montreal does trade him, avs being in the mix wouldn’t shock me at all. That seems to be Sakics thing when it comes to his targeted guys

Man, if the Avs get Domi they would be unstoppable. I don’t know what it would cost though. Possibly Zadorov & Donskoi? Their lines could be:

    Landeskog-MacKinnon-Rantanen
    Domi-Kadri-Kaut
    Kaut-Newhook-Burakovsky
    Jost-Namestinkov-Nichuskin/Compher

    Graves-Makar
    Girard-Johnson
    Cole-Byram/Timmins

    Grubauer
    Francouz

They would become the new Chicago Blackhawks.

From the deadline rumour mill, Montreal really likes graves. So that might be the piece they covet the most,

One of zadorov or cole will he traded this offseason. I see kamanev being added in a deal with them. Jost could be moved too but that would be in a very significant blockbuster type one

Well Graves has evolved as a top 4 shutdown defender so I’m not sure if he’s for sale. But with Byram in the system I guess he could be.

They would like to avoid it but with byram coming, Timmins ready to make the jump and still have zadorov, they could survive taking graves out of their blue line.

Zads is the preferred move but gave up give up quality to get a legit Top 6 winger

I made an Avs team with Domi. What’d you think of the moves?
