Description
As it sits BUF has the #8 OA pick and MTL has the #9 OA pick
BUF trades its 1st for Domi's RFA rights giving them a solid Winger for Eichel or a Center to develop behind him that should help keep Eichel happy for years to come .(say what you will about Domi his teammates love him )

Okposo is sold for a 2nd at the TDL if we're lucky
if not a prospect and a 3rd as is once he's on the last 1-2 years of his overpaid deal
but i think he comes here and re-invents himself earning more

TBL is no less a Contender then they were 10 years ago
so this idea that players wont leave because they're so close seems flawed.
especially given the embarassing sweep in the playoffs
I think like Callahan when fans said ' never' that anything is possible
Including Gourde wanting to come home to play

I wouldn't do that Buffalo deal if I was you...

Assuming the cap goes to something like $83, after you resign Serg and Mete (Say something along the lines of the McAvoy bridge for Serg ($4.9 x 3)? And something like $2.5 for Mete (May be high?)), you add somewhere around $7 mil.

Are you confident this team is going to be a playoff team? Because it's a capped out team that IMO doesn't look any better than this years version.

we'll sell off Tatar and other UFA's before they test free agency
those willing to get deals done early for less will stay and those who wont are playing to impress a contender to bid on their services .

Tatar , Armia and Petry are all likely to go
Gallagher and Danault i see signing deals similar to most of TBL core where they take less for a full NMC or NTC

its cutting it close but we should have about 2.7m cap left after all is said and done
plus we're hoping to recoop value on Gourde and Okoposo so one day down the line we can profit like with Tatar,Armia and Petry who all came in at low points and re-invented themselves.

the real x factor here is our youth
with Ylonen already in North America i think he ,Harvey-Pinard,Mcshane , Harris ,and likely Hillis joining him
this gives us players worth developing so close to MTL and with them talking to Norfolk Admirals about ECHL partnership
a lot of our AHL guys struggling for minutes will begin to be developed right .

Caufield and whomever we draft this year will be a big part in replenishing our ranks

You can get that top 10 pick for Domi without taking back a cap dump such as Okposo... BUF is desperate to win now, I think MB could also fetch a second for Domi in that deal ad well... With that pick, you hope the guy to become at least similar to Domi in terms of impact... Once again, depending on the lottery, I think trading Tatar is the best option... He could fetch a similar return to Domi even though his potential and age arent as great as Domis... Tatar for 10-12oa? With that pick tou draft Sanderson and youre set on the left side for 10 years

IMHO I personally would fire him if he made these trades...... sorry Billy but I disagree wholeheartedly with everything here. (Or actually should I say I don't disagree with the direction but the way it was accomplished)

That Tampa trade is abysmal. The price to take Gourde off Tampa's hands may very well be Serg alone.......you want to give Drouin and Chiarot to your rivals in the process? Sergechev is good but he is not that good.

The Buffalo trade is a too much to take on. Domi may not be worth that 1st but he certainly is worth is when an albatross of a contract is attached to it....... Leafs paid Carolina their 1st and a 7th to take 1 year of Marleau on their hands........Okposo still has 4 more years!....

There are better, less risky ways to accomplish what you are trying to do without actively sabotaging yourself. (Which I agree with - this team needs to transition to the youth badly)

Gourde is horrible, has no value except as a salary dump included with sergachev, so that trade is very bad for MTL. Im not against acquiring Gourde in a Serg trade but would have to be much less then that, also he would be a 4th liner maybe 3rd

Same with Okposo, horrible contract to take on, you would never get a 2nd or a 3rd for him in a future trade. He is a 4th liner or healthy scratch at this point.

Yeah no, Tampa isn't taking Drouin back. Gourde and Sergachev aren't getting moved without a fight.

Wild are better off keeping their stuff than making that trade. Byron does nothing for them.

They should keep Foligno and Hartman for next season to see how it plays out. If the team falls on it's face move one or both at the TDL next year.

MTL Fans Logic

Domi has a horrible season= Worth a top 10 pick OA in a deep draft
Gourde has a horrible season = not worth trading for even if we get a former top 10 LD we drafted no less

Cant win sometimes lol

same would have been said about Tatar , Domi , Armia,Danault, Petry ,Bryon ,ext
All were brought in at low points with low value and here we are now .
if we're building around youth anyways rather then sacrifice them for a pointless run we wont win on
then it only makes sense to keep selling the players who are having Career highs to bring in more players like them at a low point

i think our fans overvalue Domi and under value top 10 OA picks
