That is the most homer thing I've ever read. Barzal is good. But eichel is great. If you would "hesitate" doing a trade straight up you're dumb.
Honestly that trade probably doesn't get eichel. He is a top 5 center now, likely to be top 2 along McDavid maybe top 3 behind McDavid MacKinnon. So the trade really isn't close.
Enjoy Barzal he is good but benefits from an old school hockey system where defense and limited mistakes are key. You will win games as a team but barzal will never win it for you.

Eichel is playing on an offensive-minded team, Barzy put up the same point production his rookie year when the isles played the same way.

Now they're defensive-minded, which wins championships. We'll probably never know how Eichel plays in that scenario, as Buffalo won't be competing in a long time. The two are not far off, so requesting Barzy, tito (top 6 forward) and a first is probably the most homer trade I've ever seen.

Isles are absolutely not doing that.

Eichel is definitely better than Barzal, but Barzal has become who we are building our future around. If we're getting Eichel, it's to add to the lineup, not to upgrade on Barzal.

If you want to do it around Dobson and Wahlstrom, then **** yeah let's do it.

I will agree that it is a homer thing to say you wouldn't consider Eichel for Barzal straight up. Eichel is definitely a better player than Barzal, however I do not believe the gap is as large as many would think. In the Trotz system offense is sacrificed for defense, but when in a more open system Barzal scored 85 points which would be in line with Eichel's best year. It would not be surprising if those two were swapped for each other that Eichel became a 70 point player for the Isles and Barzal an 85 point player for the Sabres.

As an Islanders fan I would still pass as adding Beau would create another hole for the Isles, while not upgrading significantly.

First I will agree that the trade just doesn't make sense in a logical standpoint.

But 2nd to everyone saying that the sabres are asking too much in this trade. Should think what it would take to get mcdavid mackinnon Crosby in his prime. And if you ati thank barzal beau and a 1st would get you those guys I dont know what else to say.

I can tell you don’t watch many islanders games and just decided to spew some BS at someone who disagrees with you. If anything, barzal doesn’t benefit from this system, it takes away from his offense but he is developing into a two way force. He had 85 points as a rookie in an offensive minded system

The sabres play a defensive system under this coach. They couldnt run and gun with an ahl team with their bottom 9. The only guys that score are eichel and whoever he plays with.
