so bruins are trading backes and a second for what 3m in cap savings? lol. they already get 1.1m in savings with him in the ahl. so if they eat 2m of the remaining 4.9 they wont be trading a 2nd with only 3m remaining dead cap.

So...I’m going to throw out a wild guess here, and say that Cody Ceci is currently a better option for Toronto than Mike Green, regardless of how much Leafs fans hate him.

In saying that, looking at the trade, you want a 1st to take the last few months of Clarkson? Who’s on LTIR? Who’s contract doesn’t even affect the Leafs cap?

Obviously some of these are based on Craig Custance's article in The Athletic. Of them, I can see the Backes trade going down, but only if BOS decides it wants to take on a big asset at the TDL (and there are really any big assets on the block at the moment). Also, I could see VAN making that deal, but it's EXTREMELY bad for DET. VAN is going to need some cap space soon, but that would definitely put a crimp in DET's cap space potential.

Mantha for Romanov, Hell No Yzerman will want someone that is NHL ready now not in the future.
