Detroit's already pretty much guaranteed to finish #31 overall, Even then it's only 18.5% chance of getting the #1 overall pick. We've a better chance of getting the 4th pick then the #1 pick.

yup I've watched Colorado have best odds at 1st overall twice and both years end up with 4th, you can't bank on 1st overall when you finish last

As of February 1st Mike Green has a Mod-NTC he can refuse to go to 10 teams on his no trade list. He'd probably waive for one last cup chance. But then again he's stated that he wants to retire as a Red Wing.

Green doesn't have a NMC. he has a 10 Team no Trade list. I mean he could be a jerk and pick the top 10 teams in the league as his no trade list making him near untradeable.

I think that's the whole reason there is a NMC.

So he can't be deadline moved.
It was a 2 year deal with the understanding, he's in Detroit.

Think about it. If you had little kids in school and a wife would you want to have to up and play in a new city.
No you wouldn't.
That's not there for an off season trade. He can figure that out on his own. He doesn't have to worry about it.

He has it to make sure he can't be traded at deadline. Not to stop an off season trade. He knows this is a basement team. But his family is in Detroit going to school and doesn't want to be away from them.

You should go read the clause on his page Feb. 1st he submits a 10 team no trade list. That leaves 21 teams he can be traded to. That is also not to hard to understand.

yeah Feb 1st, so he knows the playoff teams and selects any one who could potentially trade for him so he goes no where.

He doesn't have a full NMC or a full NTC come trade deadline. How difficult is that for YOU to understand....You keep babbling on about kids in school. Most NHL players have kids in school, wives with jobs. Players get traded. They know it. They have to deal with the situations of being separated from families for a few months. Its the nature of the business. If Steve can get a 3rd round pick for Green I'm sure he'll take it.

PS: NMC and NTC are NOT that same thing. NTC means you can't be traded without your approval. NMC means we can't trade you OR bury your ass in the AHL without your approval.

Does Detroit really need to sell anything to tank (they are already tanking)?? They are by far the worst team as is.

I hate to break it to you, guys at the end of their career with kids have different priorities. He's 34 not 22. It's not just "part of the game" guys that age don't do that if they don't have to. And guys put themselves in positions to avoid it. He's not waiving it. He's made himself untraceable. Think about for 2 minutes. Everyone out the playoffs is going to pass. and then he clears out 10 teams from the playoff bunch. Which rules everyone out.

I know, your like 12 or something and think people with kids just want to be traded away from them, but in the real world. That doesn't happen.
