Why would the Leafs give up Kapanan who is a valuable young member of their roster on a team ready to compete for Stanley Cup over next 5 years for a 2nd and 4th round draft pick?
Why would the Leafs give up Ceci who is actually playing decent defense right now for a 5th round pick when team needs him this year.

The fact that they're 1st rounders doesn't prove that they're worth a first... plus in what world does a 40 pts guy = a 1st? (even a late pick)

No they are not. Kap is on pace for 18 goals and 48 points, but considering his linemates and the fact that his sole game is about scoring points not playing defense, I'd argue he's not worth much more then a late 1st.

Kapanen is a strong defensive player, a penalty killer and has been with kerfoot and mikheyev....

Never heard him being strong defensively, although have seen he tries and forechecks. Being a PK on TOR though, a offensive focused team, doesn't say a ton to be honest. Maybe i haven't seen enough of him this year.

Most likely not. He is a fierce back checker. Is very clever at stealing the puck and is great on the pk.
