Sheldon Keefe made a brilliant coaching decision to move Alex Kerfoot to left wing on a line with Tavares and Nylander and the move created a powerful line and jump started Nylander to play some of the best hockey of his career. Interested in your thoughts of whether the Leafs should leave Kerfoot as a left winger on this line when the teams injured forward players return to the line-up.

I had always done AGMs putting Kerfoot on the top line as a left winger for Tavares and everyone was saying no. That's where he will thrive the most

Problem is who is your 3C? The only option is Spezza but I’m not sure if a 37 year old Spezza can play 3rd line minutes for a whole season

I always thought this was the correct play for Toronto ( then have Kerfoot center the 2nd PP unit). The problem is they dont exactly have reliable 3/4C depth

I think this just increases the value of Kerfoot in general. He's a capable 3C and can move higher up the lineup and play wing as well. Having so many potential Centres is such an asset. TO is terrific on the draws and they can move guys around a lot depending on whos feeling it on any given night. Makes it hard to defend against such depth.

Gee, who wouldn't look as the left winger with Tavares or Matthews. It's replacing Kerfort at centre is the issue. Engvall has looked very good at centre and left wing...maybe he is the guy.
If the LW is pecking order is Hyman and Johnson. Maybe the 3rd line is Kerfoot at centre, Engvall and Kapanen.. That could be a good line. Kerfoot still might get PP minutes replacing Hyman.

Sheldon keefes skill in finding successful line combinations cant not be doubted or underestimated however having that hole in the 3rd line could be costly

With the emergence of Engvall, the Leafs may have found their 3C.

I wouldn't have predicted this one January 11th as you did (such as a visionary), but Engvall has emerged from a 4th line LWer, to 4th line centre to 3rd line centre in a short period of time. Plus in case of injuries or if Engval falters, Spezza and Kerfoot are still available.

YES! He has found his place on this team forsure; I think his ability to take faceoff is a bonus. I love our top 2 lines.
