One of the true untouchables on the Habs roster. He's worth more to the Habs than in trade value. It would take a silly over payment for them to even contemplate it.

I mean I couldn't say no to a Draisaitl to go but yeah anything that would be accepted would be a massive overpayment from them, he has embraced the culture and is an exemple of hardwork in Montreal so no way that a "fair" deal is being accepted otherwise Bergevin will be followed home after every game.

If EDM was offered fair value for McDavid, would they ever trade him? No, because apart from being an outstanding player in general (trade value), he has formed the identity of EDM (team value).

Obviously Gallagher is not in the same class as McDavid, that's not what I'm saying. But what I mean is that it doesn't really matter what you give because his value to this team's identity is crucial to our success, so we can't accept giving him away for his fair trade value. You'd need to severely overpay (Like a Drai) for us to even think about it, and one Canadian team to another, I wouldn't want that either.

Yeah that's why I said silly over payment. If they offered Draisaitl, any sane GM would have to accept but since Chiarelli no longer runs this team, the odds of a silly over payment have dropped significantly unfortunately..

In theory any player is available in trade. Just some require value back that is greater than the sum of the parts which defeats the purpose of trading. Gallagher is one of those players for Montreal.
