What happened to Turris

Description
He always seemed like a pretty good player, maybe not a legit 1C but a solid 2C on a contender. I don't get to watch many Nashville games, so I'm curious what people think the problem is and if he could get back on track in a change of scenery trade.

Honestly, he's had one good year since 14-15 (17-18) and that's it. Was really solid offensively and poor defensively for about 5 years. The offense to really fall off when he turned 29 (which usually happens) and now the offense matches the defense. This is the danger of signing anyone past 30 (see: anyone signed in the 2016 offseason)

I think he could be a solid 2C in some teams, as I understand it, he does not play in Nashville for reasons not related to his game, maybe there is a conflict with the coach, I don’t know. The problem is in his contract and recent history of injuries, I would like to see him in Buffalo, but not with this contract.

I think there's something going on between him and Lavi. Turris has played well this year but Lavi is currently playing 2 AHLers and letting Turris ride in the pressbox. Something going on beyond what we see on the ice.

My friend you shouldn't drink the OTF kool-aid. The conspiracy theory drivel over there makes it near impossible to read. The 2 "AHLers" play a different position and offer totally opposite skill-sets. Bottom line for me is that GMDP would not allow Turris to sit in the pressbox if it would hurt the Preds. Regardless of what you think of Lavi that should be enough.

To the original question there isn't a spot for him. The top 3 centers have cemented their spots and Turris doesn't belong on a checking line. Wing experiment failed. Turris has played fine when in the lineup but he doesn't improve any of our current lines when on the ice. Simple.

So do you think he'd be a good player for a different team? I know the Preds don't want to have $6m sitting in the press box, but they also don't want to sell low on a guy they just gave up assets for. Plenty of teams could use a center if he can bounce back to being a 50 point player for another few years. What do you think the Preds would accept for him?

throw him on COL or PIT and I think he bounces back, but he's been mediocre at best. Was so happy when he left Ottawa.

Duchene has spent a significant portion of his career at wing. There is a top 6 Center role for him while Arvidsson is injured. You could easily roll a top 6 of something along the lines of

Forsberg Joey Duchene
Jarnkrok Turris Granlund

or if Carr is worth giving a shot drop Jarnkrok down to the Sissons/Watson checking line.

Do you honestly think that having a 6M/year x 5 year contract sitting in the Pressbox helps the team? All it does is further hurt what little trade value he had. Arvidsson is out for 3-5 more weeks. Now is the time to get Turris top 6 time and see if he can't rebuild some trade value. Then trade him first chance you can for the best return you can get without salary retention or taking another contract back.

Right now they're going to have to sell him low or atleast lower than what we spent to get him. We aren't getting a Girard level prospect back. Yes, he still can be a useful center. As pointed out the 2C role has been filled by Duchene/Joey (I'd still argue with the Arvidsson injury you role Turris at 2C to maximize the ability in the top 6 and put Duchene at wing where he has spent alot of time there). Turris is best utilized in a top 6 role but could be 3C if needed but Bonino is doing a really good job right now so they aren't going to drop him down either.

I think he could be a really good player for alot of teams including the Preds. If (knocks on wood) something happened to one of our guys plugging in Turris would be a very manageable situation. If as has been speculated there was a personal issue I think he would be traded for a bag of pucks or waived if no offers. If its a lineup decision he wont be traded till after the season unless a really good offer comes along. Trade value is a fickle beast. Preds dont have any cap concerns so unless there is drama involved no need to rush.

This is a team spot that requires chemistry you cant move everyone to lesser roles to make room for a player that wont make the lines/team better than if left alone, regardless of their salary. If Carr doesn't blow the staff away I would expect to see Trenin given a longer look before moving Duchene to wing.
