Huh? Puju is not eligible for UFA for 6 years.

Oilers don’t just decline, they laugh their ass off that it was even offered.

Jax on the other hand....they should take that.

Except he isn't a UFA, he is an RFA. And JP is probably the more talented player, plus I don't see Vesey resigning with EDM.

if a player doesnt resign with a team after getting qualifying offer he can not play in nhl that year until he does. but if he doesn't he becomes a UFA at start of next year and anyone can sign him. its a real thing. i was hearing it non stop from leaf fans a while back worried about nylander.

No he isn't, Oilers hold his signing rights, the signing deadine is just for him to play in the NHL this year which would be detrimental to his development anyways

if they dont sign him he is UFA next year. the NHLPA made it part of deal so teams could not force young players into things and keep them from playing in nhl. after dec 1 he is as good as gone off edds organization and no team will trade for him because he cant play until he is UFA next season.

Go read the CBA, you are wrong.

That’s a no from Columbus we have no need for a RHD. He’s not better then Savard or Jones, so he’d play in the 3rd pair.

Read the CBa section on this site. ??‍♂️

He was given a qualifying offer. Does not meet UFA criteria, he remains an RFA.

Here i’ll make it easy for you:

What is an unrestricted free agent (UFA)?
A player becomes a free agent when their contract expires on July 1 after the last League Year of their contract. Any player who meets the following requirements becomes an unrestricted free agent (UFA):
Is 27 years of age on June 30 of the contract expiry year
Has seven (7) Accrued Seasons where an Accrued Season is earned when the player was on the clubs active roster for 40 Regular Season games (30 if the player is a goaltender). Games missed due to a hockey related injury will count towards an accrued season in the season of the injury, plus one additional season after the injury.
Meets the requirements for Group 6 UFA Status (See below)
An unrestricted free agent is eligible to sign a contract with any club as of noon ET on July 1 after the last League Year of their contract

What is a Group 6 UFA?
A player whose contract is expiring and meets all of the following conditions will become an unrestricted free agent (UFA):
The player is 25 years or older (as of June 30th of the calendar year the contract is expiring).
The player has completed 3 or more professional seasons - qualified by 11 or more professional games (for an 18/19 year old player), or 1 or more professional games (for a player aged 20 or older). This can include NHL, minor league, and European professional league seasons played while under an SPC.
The player has played less than 80 NHL games, or 28 NHL games of 30 minutes or greater for a goaltender.

What is a restricted free agent (RFA)?
A player becomes a free agent when their contract expires on July 1 after the last League Year of their contract. If the player does not meet the UFA requirements (see above), they become a restricted free agent (RFA) if their club issues them a qualifying offer and they have met the following requirements:
Group 2 Restricted Free Agent Requirements
First SPC Signing Age Professional experience required
18-21 3
22-23 2
24+ 1
If the player does not meet the required years of professional experience, they will instead become a 10.2(c) player (see below).
If the player does not receive a qualifying offer by June 25th at 5:00pm ET, they immediately become a UFA.
An RFA is eligible to negotiate and sign a contract with any club. If the player signs a contract with any club other than the club that holds their rights, the contract is known as an Offer Sheet, and the signing club must posess the required compensatory draft picks. For more information on Offer Sheets, please see our Offer Sheet Calculator and Offer Sheet FAQ pages.
Depending on the RFAs entry-level signing age and years of professional experience, the player may be eligible for arbitration. For more information on arbitration, please see our Arbitration Calculator and Arbitration Filings pages.

What is a 10.2(c) player?
A player becomes a free agent when their contract expires on July 1 after the last League Year of their contract. A player who does not meet the UFA requirements or the Group 2 RFA requirements displayed in the table above, and has been issued a qualifying offer, is designated a 10.2(c) player. The player is only eligible to negotiate and sign a contract with the club that holds their signing rights. They are ineligible to negotiate a contract (offer sheet) with any other club. They are also ineligible for arbitration. If the player does not receive a qualifying offer by June 25th at 5:00pm ET, they immediately become a UFA.

What i am saying is he was given his qualifying offer. He does not meet any of the UFA eligibilities. He is an RFA. He has until Dec 1 to sign an NHL contract. If he does not he cannot play in the NHL this year. However because EDM gave him the QO and he does not meet UFA elig requirements he is an RFA and will remain so. Edm retains his rights and they start this all over again next year. They will QO him again. He is not going to be elig for UFA til he turns 27. They don’t have to trade him by DeC 1st or lose him. They have to in order for him to be elig to play this year. Something this week he said he would not do even if traded.

Why wouldn’t they. Be rather dumb not to. You think they are just going to let him walk away for nothing?

He has no leverage other than playing in Europe for 6 years.

Again no. No. And no. You’d think you’d run out of straws to grasp at as you have bern wrong at every turn. So i am done trying to explain it to you. Go back and figure it out for yourself. I’ll give you one of them. Group 6. You have to meet all of the requirements. Final one is having played in less than 80 NHL games. Oops.

You can try to figure out the other 2 on your own. Had enough of the brick wall.

just to stop this from going all night. i think we can both agree he has played last game for Edmonton and they should look to trade him. vesey has out performed pull every year since they entered league.
edd wants more skilled forwards now and buffalo just needs to keep building depth. its a win for both teams and pull is slightly more valuable then yukapov to edd right now.
