The blues would have no interest in Ceci

He would almost certainly need to be involved as a cap dump. I gues it depends on what they are looking for and how much they will retain.

What would you say STL would want or be interested in?

I think if Blues really take a deal it has to be something that’s worth giving up a run so Kappy Lilje first+

Like I said above, I can't see army scouting if it's a small deal. I'm not saying it's Petro but let's say it is hypothetically what would your blues be interested in from my leafs?

Id think Kappy Lilje first another year not this year obviously and maybe even plus if it is for. Pietrangelo type player.

That’s basically the Blues doing a favor that’s a significant downgrade. Toronto fans can only dream, but you aren’t looking at it from a Blues point of view. Why would they do that if they are still in Contention. Blues have only ever traded Rentals when they have fallen off which was 1 non playoff season and the other one was very close to non playoff and they came off a 8 Game losing streak.

I won't pretend to know what Army is thinking, but the Blues don't have a lot else that the Leafs would be interested in that makes sense.

No way you get all of that for a rental. You have to remember that rentals do not get a lot. If it is Kappy and Lily you are giving up Piet and another young guy.

It is why I think Kappy+Bracco makes sense for Piet and a B prospect

I’m not too surprised. This has been going on 3 years now. It’s gone from Parayko to Pietrangelo back to Parayko back to Pietrangelo. It’s gone from Nylander to Marner to Matthews to a bunch of Middling Depth guys and picks to meet the value of our Defenseman. Toronto and St.Louis don’t look like good trade partners, but I mean I guess they are trying to make something work.

I could see Dubas doing something like that. He just fired Babcock showing that he doesn't want to punt this year so who knows but I found it interesting that Army was their.

Well tell that to Karlsson deal, Stone Deal. I thought the same thing once but it’s not like that anymore.

So the rental market has changed over the recent years. It costs more for Higher market players because even if they are a rental it costs a pretty penny to make a cup run. This is now the case for the NHL Market, while what you say was previous recent years with Duchene Stone Karlsson Zuccarrello start to say otherwise.

Dubas just fired Babcock showing that he doesn't want to punt this year, and it would give us a better chance to extend him which I'm sure Dubas would want. I get that rentals don't get as much in return but this is Petro the Captain of the defending Stanley Cup champs....it will cost more than usual as the Blues won't just give him away. If he is made available (hypothetically) team's would line up to get him.

It could mean nothing. Maybe it's a trade involving young talent like Kyrou for Kapanen or something of that magnitude? Or maybe, it's nothing and Armstrong was in town and wanted to catch a game.

I'm just as surprised as you that Army was at the game. I don't think we lineup well either but I ain't gonna complain lol

Although that’s kind of where I was getting to I think if anything maybe Blues are trying for Barrie I really don’t think so and I really don’t think anything will come out of Armstrong being in Toronto but we can only wait and find out.

Ok he has crossed the line but if he shouldn’t be in the League. Neither should Kadri, all of the enforcers, Marchand, and others, but they aren’t it’s apart of the game to get heated.

Glad you acknowledge the crossing the line but that was a bit too far, mind you I didn’t see what happened before hand. That’s a bit further than Marchand and Kadri. That’s Wilson level. Kicked out of the league... no way. I haven’t known him to do anything this bad before. Sometimes you just lose your ****. It happens.

Has anyone thought that maybe it’s a cap move with some secondary players? Could still involve Burtuzzo.

What if it’s like Allen+Bortuzzo for Ceci+pick. It’s janky af but the Leafs get a backup and a decent defender while the Blues shed salary for 20-21 that they can use to sign Pietrangelo.

Karlsson had been the best dman in the league for years when he was traded.
Stone went with an extension
Zucc was about right (a 2nd and a 3rd)
Duchene was a bit of an overpay, but even then was only a 1st and two b prospects (same that Muzzin got LA but Muzz had another year)

So I don't think any of those trades make the point you think they do

No. Ceci has actually been useful (although I'd like to see him used less) while Allen has been awful. At that point you're just trading a pick for Bort and there really isn't a reason for the Leafs to do that.

He’s been good for 25 games out of a horrible career. He’s literally one of the worst defenseman in the league.
Meanwhile, check out Bortuzzo’s RAPM since 2016

Stone did not go with an extension. Stone signed an extension with them and same for Karlsson under conditions.
