Description
I love Byron but I feel like he is the odd man out. I changed the lines in the same mind set of now where we don't really have a first line and fourth line. 2 second lines and 2 third lines. I'd also like to see Juulsen back with MTL since he was doing good last year before he got injured. I'd let him get in game shape in Laval before tho.

Détails additionnels:
Shaw got us a 2nd a 3rd soooooo if we add the third maybe that would be enough. If not I'm okay with byron for a 2nd and a 3rd like Shaw. I feel like Byron's speed would fit very good with McDavid.

Let's just assume the value is equal, just because you add quantity to a deal doesn't necessarily get you quality in return. For example, EDM would be wayyy more interested in giving up a 2nd and a 3rd (If they were interested in doing that based on what you said) for Byron than giving up a 1st but getting a 3rd back.

I believe edmonton could make the playoffs this years so it wouldn't be a high 1st rounder. Maybe if it's conditional (lottery protected) ?

Maybe by TDL if Edmonton is still in the top of the league and Montreal are way out of playoff, Byron and a 2nd (32-40) vs 1st (24-31) is an option. But as F50Marco mentionned it, they would definitively do 2nd and 3rd before this

yeah like I said I'm okay with getting a 2nd and a 3rd for Byron. I feel like it would still be good for both teams.

Its not the point. Its that even if they want Byron, they can get him or someone else similar without having to touch their 1st rounder. So why take on a 3rd just to give the Habs a 1st instead? There is no incentive here. Byron is good but not that good to force EDM to have to make a rash decision. If we were talking about them getting Taylor Hall and that there are 7 other teams trying to get him, then you may have to just suck it up and make the deal but with a depth player like Byron you don't have to.

If EDM agreed that Byron was worth a 2nd and a 3rd, that would be the offer. If MTL offers only to do it for a 1st and a rd coming back, IMO I would just walk away from the deal altogether.

Its not about dropping spots in the draft. yeah sure its only a couple spots potentially. Its principle. IF Byron was worth a 2nd and a 3rd, why not just pay that price and keep the 1st? Why up the ante to a 1st just top get another later pick back? Barring EDM winning the cup, every pick before it is a high chance at a solid NHL'er. Why risk losing that for....Byron? (And I like Byron but lets be real here too)

Well said sir. GM's don't generally like to trade their 1st rounders unless their name is Dubas.

Actually don't mind both times Dubas traded his 1sts. Look at how many 1sts Doug Wilson has been trading away in recent years. flushed cheeks

ahahahahahahh Byron is not worth a 1st or a 2nd and 3rd, like give me a break, he is overpaid and over the hill, his salary is way to high, he is not a 20 goal scorer anymore. good luck with this, it is the worst trade ever! If you think he is worth a first in one of the strongest drafts ever, you should keep him! Kick rocks
