Does it scare you just a little bit that two guys can be picked up of waivers and slide into your top 6?

At this point, I honestly think I could be an option for Oilers's winger situation.

Too bad both of your goalies have NTC's. You could have had Charlie Lindgren, Casey DeSmith or Eric Comrie.

Not that EDM wingers are anything to ride home about at all and a bunch of them are waiver wire type players themselves but I think people are exaggerating that those 8 waiver forwards who not one single team was willing to take on for free are better than Neal, Chiasson and probably even Kassian who brings an element none of those guys can.

There's more to playing hockey than empty point scoring. Sprong, Ho Sang, Aberg, all have tons of skill but don't have the worth ethic and positioning to make it in the NHL and its clear. Baertschi is an NHL'er but he's also an injury prone and expensive one for what he produces. Goldobin still has enough potential for his age but needs to get it together and clearly Vancouver doesn't think its going to go anywhere. Agostino, Greer, Hudon, these are all 13th forwards on other teams at best so what are we crapping on EDM for?

I get it, its funny, Edm wingers suck, but lets not make those waiver wire NON claimed players to be studs or anything either. There is a reason they bounce from team to team and never get settled in anywhere.

Edmonton could only claim 2 players from waivers considering they are at 48 contracts.

I agree to some extent but there's plenty of teams with useless old plugs that'll get played due to either their contract or old school coaching mentality.

These guys here have been labeled and maybe there's a reason for it but there's also many who are stuck behind inferior players plain and simple, the fact that Paul Maurice is gonna play Mark Letestu ahead of any one else is evidence enough for me, a lot of players are kept down by dinosaur coaches.

I personally do agree but then again, us fans are presuming to understand the nuance of player importance and roles within a team and coaching better than guys who are actually paid to do it for a living. We don't know the in's of the team and chemistry. We don't know how these players act when the camera isn't showing. We're simply seeing "Ooooh former 1st round pick, high skill, on waivers, better take him!".

I know its seems they like to give old gaffer's time over the young kids but they want to win more than they want to be spiteful against young players. They truly do believe they'll win or have a chance to win more games with those vets than those players. If they knew they wouldn't and still didn't I think that's when they're being complete dinosaurs the most.

Now that doesn't mean they are right of course. But that also doesn't mean they are wrong either. Anyways we're talking about extremes here. Letestu is one guy playing 4th line minutes. Highly doubt a unreliable high skilled youngster with little experience is gonna out play Letestu at a grinding game. Which is what most coaches want out of their 4th lines.
