I hope this is a troll attempt... you can't be a hockey fan and think this trade is even remotely in the realm of possibility.

Fact is CBJ had all the time and money in the world to sign a new goaltender this off season if they wanted one. They didn't, so it seems to be that they believe in their 2 goalies right now. Getting bum goalie and giving up their #1 center is atrocious

Blues decline. Not trading a Stanley Cup Champion for a guy that should've went after Puljujarvi in the draft

Oh no. I can see the future. For the next 15 years (Thomas being the last one), Blues fans will be over valuing their players because "they are Cup winners". Not one Blues Cup winner can/will ever by traded.

Didn't mean to put PLD in I was purely looking at Cap Hit while doing this on my phone went back in and looked at some stats for some mid-tier prospects threw in a couple more picks obviously this isn't perfect but with the extension given to Faulk, the Blues have to look to move Allen. I think CBJ makes sense to acquire Allen as they lost Bob in the offseason. I'm doing this to try and understand more about GM work but my specialty isn't hockey.

Don't worry. Every minor detail gets ripped to shreds in the armchair section. I agree with you that moving Allen is the easiest way to free up the cap to extend Petro. But I think as @mvp13 said, if CBJ didn't trust their goalies coming into the season, they would've made a move before now. Maybe there is another chance to move Allen later on, if he plays well this season and if Merzlikins/Korpisalo are boat anchors on an otherwise successful CBJ season. If you're interested in learning about hockey management this site is great, just ignore the insults and accept the quality advice.
