I don't see the incentive for Detroit here. They are getting a fourth and a sixth in order to take on Johnson's contract and giving up a fifth for the privilege. Franzen doesn't hurt them any more than he does Pittsburgh. I think you're looking at Johnson, a third and a fifth for a seventh at the very least.

I can see that working the main point that I am trying to make in the trade is the jj for johan and we put him on LTIR for the last year of his deal.

Franzen's contract is done at the end of the season and isn't going to cost Detroit anything, so there is no reason move him.

DiPauli is 25 and hasn't played 1 NHL game and he probably never will. So he doesn't really have any value.

Detroit wants nothing to do with JJ all he would do is take time away of prospects.

This idea could sort of work but you'd have to find a guy that isn't ltir retired (Manning in EDM maybe) and then you only have to play for 3 years of JJ instead of 4 bc Manning basically makes the same as JJ, but only for a year

Also, why does everyone send JJ to DET, aside from them having cap space they don't have any use for him, they have way too many d men in the system (an that can be in the NHL) already

Edmonton wants nothing to do with JJ or his contract. Leave us out of it!

I have often said this is one of the most likely places for JJ to land.
Detroit has a lot of very old and injury prone defense men. I know they want to say, we have prospects, but they don't have that many and they aren't ready.

I see Ericsson, Daley, DeKeyser and Green all out at some point.
They don't have 4 prospects, period.
If detroit gets an injury bug, and lets be honest in looking at that list, it's made of glass. They will be in need of help. As 3 of those contracts are expiring, you are looking at them looking for blue liners next year as stop gap.
It just makes too much sense for Detroit. Especially if they are going to move say Green at TDL if he's not injured.

My thing is, if this happens. Don't expect a return. What ever comes back it probably isn't of much value. That's ok the penguins need to clear the cap space, detroit is a team that has cap space to spare.
It's a win win. He easily replace one of their defense men next year and Detroit keeps a rebuild going.
