I don't see why the probable out of the playoff Ducks would trade for a one year rental.

An extended, established RHD who just came off his best defensive season in his career is pretty valuable IMO. Don’t be shocked if Rakell or Kase is the return here.

I good Right shot forward for a good right shot defenseman is a good ‘hockey deal’ for both sides.

This. Carolina trading Faulk is a lot like the Predators trading Subban to clear cap space. I can't imagine them getting a 1st given the lack of leverage the Canes have.

What lack of leverage? When the canes move down who needs to go down, they're under the cap. They have no need to move him. Carolina have as much leverage here as Anaheim, Anaheim have a need, Carolina have a surplus

Carolina doesn't have the cap space to take on roster player. This will end up being a prospect + pick(s) trade regardless of destination team. ANA has the assets to make a decent return offer and a need to fill a defensive hole so they are motivated. If the kids step up as expected and Faulk plugs the hole, their team can easily get back into playoff form this season and justify Faulk signing an extension.

When you subtract out $4.8M with Faulk, and make the necessary roster adjustments, they are perfectly fine on cap space to take on up to about $4M. Interesting - Kase and Rakell are both under that number

Anaheim doesn’t NEED, Faulk. They have quite a strong youth core. Faulk is a want, it’d be nice if they can extend him but Kase or Rakell is NOT GOING ON THE OTHER WAY. Lmfao. Kase is 2 cap hit and Rakell is just under 4. Both are top 6, with easy cases to be a top 3 player. Kase is he can fit in 82 games and improve on His last campaign; will absolutely sky rocket in value. Rakell is a solid player. Anaheim should keep both as they bring more value to their team than Faulk, and could be traded for more than Faulk.

Carolina can keep Faulk and trade him at TDL if they’d like a better return. If Anaheim loses a 2020 first or Kase or rakell for Faulk their gm needs to be fired.

Thank you for saying that!!!!

GMBM will be having pitchforks at his front door if we lose either 3 of those.

Spot on here. If the Ducks were going to trade Rakell, it would be for Laine. And we know that wont happen. Wpg wont trade Laine to the west unless they get a Rakell, young D and a 1st .

So they move down a couple players they risk losing to waivers for a guy who will walk at the end of the year anyhow? Maybe, but that definitely puts a little more of a sense of urgency to move a player they don't need and preserve their depth.

Real question because I'm not familiar with the Canes depth players. Who gets sent down?

No, they move a guy who's waiver exempt in Clark Bishop, maybe Necas who's also waiver exempt and Forsling, who's a D man and never gonna see the light of Day in Carolina anyway

Unless this site is wrong, neither Forsling or Bishop are waivers exempt.
