Don't think that Minnesota trade is fair value given Ceci is basically a giant cap dump.

Ceci has potential that's why he is still in the NHL. Working with a good player development cast and playing with or even surrounded by Ryan Suter can help him a lot.

This is a really good post? it's a good creative way to explore options without Marner. Something I think the Leafs should be doing right now. There's so many opportunities that can come from trading Marner.

Although I don't like the idea of sending Juulsen to TOR. The guy is literally exactly what the leafs need at RD (young physical two-way Dman), and would make a lethal combo with Dermott. Kind of have no choice to say yes to the amount of value coming back in the deal. Muzzin could fetch a late 1st at the trade deadline if the Habs don't want to keep him, and having Hyman makes Lehkonen 100% expendable for even more assets. Goat + picks are meh, don't really care or need them.

Hi ChiHawk. Regarding Ceci cap dump there is capspace of a million or so TML could retain as well to make deal more attractive and minny ends up with best player in the deal

Really like your line "there's so many opportunities that can come from trading Marner." That's the exact right way to look at things, imo. Especially if there isn't an opportunity to sign him to a reasonable contract that fits the leafs cap structure.

My obvious preference is that he's signed to a fair deal and starts the season on time. But if that can't happen then there's nothing saying the leafs can't become a better team by trading him.
