I can see getting Hallander and a 2nd to take on bad contracts/LTIR... but why are they giving up Pageau to do it?

Seriously, why are we GIVING away Rust, who has value, AND having to add a 1st to do it. The Penguins are getting nothing of value here in return. I know they need cap space, but this isn't the way to do it.
