Yeah that definitely would be nice, but the nhl doesn’t do fun so

yeah, its kinda like what the NBA does in July when all the teams come with their prospects and play in a tournament. It gives undrafted/college guys a chance to showcase their skills and maybe earn a longer look.

It would be great but doubt nhl heads would allow players to participate at all on the off chance theyd get injured.

I feel like that wouldn’t work, given how much the prospects play throughout the year already.

Preseason

NHL and NBA have the same amount of regular season games though. Maybe it's more about lessening the games in Major Junior to lessen the workload on these guys but if you really thought about it, NBA players play more throughout a 48 minute game than NHL players playing 60 minutes.

Top of the line NHL players play 22-25 minutes and you'd get the odd guy playing 28-30 minutes a game which is 50% of the time.

Top of the line NBA players play around 33-26 minutes and sometimes have someone playing 40 minutes which is more than 50% of an NBA game.

Maybe NHL has a little more physicality but that's slowly going down, less checking etc.

I hope there's a way we can watch some hockey and not wait 4 months

Interesting thought. I'd be hesitant to take any more off-season training away from the players that need it most though. Maybe if it replaced the other summer tournaments? I.e. wjc summer showcase, Hlinka Gretzky etc.
