lol steen is one of our best prospects right now, lauko is becoming a sneaky good prospect, backes could be flipped again next year to ottawa for an asset, and adding a 1st round pick. for 1 year of kreider isnt worth it. Not to mention we dont need a left shot left winger. we need a right shot right winger.

2 good prospects for a UFA is a terrible deal, NYR needs to dump him for cap reasons anyways, they should take one of those kids and a conditional pick if he re-signs and be happy.

Thats a bad deal for NYR. They cant take the contract of Backes, both prospects are just ok and the 1st is a very late 1st. Not good.

Steen is one of our top offensive prospects especially after a strong year in SHL, a first is still a first late or not, Lauko just had a great development camp and has been trending in the right direction. and backes contract can be flipped very very easily next year to ottawa/ a team that needs to add cap without paying real $$ for a decent asset. It wont just be a cap dump next year if he is moved. So all that for a rental. is an overpayment yes. I also dont want to be that team that gives chris kreider a david backes type contract.
