Lundqvist isn’t our worst contract imo. He’s declining for sure, but he’s still a good goalie. Brendan Smith on the other hand had only played well in the playoffs and after the deadline, and we all of a sudden locked him up to a big money long term contract that he hadn’t proved him self worthy of imo.

I think there’s worse contracts than buffy and kopitar on there teams, how bout little or pearrault or kulikov. Kings , doughty, kovalchuk, carter, there captain and or goalie would also be in the running

Staal isn’t the worst contract on the Canes. Truly they don’t have a bad one anymore since Darling is gone. If you had to pick one, wouldn’t it be Reimer?

I 100% agree with you. They were one of the teams I struggled with. I personally don’t think Reimer will be on the team come training camp. He’s either going to be bought out, traded, or sent to the AHL. I think Staal is still a decent player but I think the worst at that cap hit

Fair comment...I could see a buyout of the Canes get a second window if both McGinn and Forsberg make it to Arb. I doubt they bury him in Charlotte.

Even though Wheeler is still productive I think his is the worst contract the Jets have.

Big retention contracts such as Girardi's 3.6m cap hit. Tampa would has all those NTC contracts and even the modified NTC might be impossible to move or without a sweetener. Not that the $$$$$ are that bad, it's just stymies your signing abilities for players you might really want. But a pretty good list.

Steen for the Blues. He’s the worst forward and has 5.75 for two more years with a full NTC. The Allen contract is bad, but apparently there was interest at the draft which means it’s movable.

Alzner is definetly habs worst contract, the guys is playing in the AHL for 4,625 per for 3 more years....
Weber's contract is still good now, if he was a UFA today, he would sign for more then 7,8 mil per. He's still a first pair RHD for most team in the league. The only scary thing about his contract is the term, finishing when he'll be 39 Y/O. But Chara is still in th league at 42, and still was signed at 6.9 mil at 39 Y/O.

On the other hand Alzner is playing in the AHL while Weber is the team's best defenseman.

Don't know how the cap recapture would go though. If I recall Bergevin said it would all go to Nashville if Weber retired before his contract ended.
