Description
About the CBJ trade:

i saw someone proposing a similar deal in the comments of another AGM.

CBJ, if they plan on going on full rebuild mode get 3 assets that can do that.

MTL gets a player already in the show - fixing the LHD before the end of CP's prime and Weber's relevance.

My comments

- i would propably switch Drouin for one of Romanov or Suzuki, depending on CBJ's needs.

- I think they would rather keep werenski... so the offer has to be ludicrous.

Well, that is a better offer than the kulak, evans, shaw proposal I saw earlier. As an habs fan, I think I'll refuse

Definite improvement on the previous offer. I nearly choked on my coffee when I saw it, but I can't see Columbus parting with Werenski.

Edit: I nearly choked when I saw the previous offer (just to make that clear lol).

Yah, saw something similar to this AGM in the comments.

I understand... but Werenski is 21 and a sure thing - so we do get a great asset back

neither do I, but I like to play with "what if" scenario. they have a good young core starting up and still intact to build around.

But in term of value, I think the offer is fair!

Yes of course Werenski would be perfect for MTL. I'm ok giving romanov + 15overall. I know Suzuki probably makes this trade fair, but man that would hurt loosing Suzuki.
Also, I don't see CLB trade Werenski (like you mention)

I would agree it's probably a fair offer per se, but I see Columbus as in a similar boat to Montreal so it's a lateral move in effect, and I think Werenski is the kind of D you build around. High value, so like you noted it would have to be a ludicrous overpay........and sure, aren't we all playing the 'what if' scenario on here? Can you imagine the balls up we'd all make of real teams if given the chance? LOL!

On a different note, if MTL want to dump Price, now might be the time with Columbus probably needing a replacement for Bob!

This would be roughly the type of package it would take to get him if Jax was willing to move him....they aren’t.

It’s not a video game or a fantasy league with you sister and her friends. You want one of the best young d men in the league you pay a premium price for it. Not a pile of spare parts.

    Hard Pass

if and i mean IF we wanted him we'd do so on offer sheets and CBJ is in Cap Hell right now set to lose players no matter what they do .
we could easily force their hand for a lot less then what we're giving up(do offer sheets on Murray and Werenski , you'll end up with one .)

Jax are not in cap hell. Just the opposite. They have like 32m in available space. What they have is a bunch of UFAs that are not coming back. And a ton of cap space to use to replace them. Their problem is there will be quite a bit of talent leaving that they got nothing in return for.

Columbus isn’t in cap he’ll right now? We have almost 30 mil in cap space and no big contracts being signed unless Panarin, Bobrovsky and Duchene come back and 2 of the 3 have indicated they aren’t coming back. If you want Werenski this is the only way to get him. Columbus could match any offersheets that’s less then 4 1st round picks and tbh that’s only because you’re way over paying for him and it’ll hurt your team in the long run.

    ill quote you on that

i know i'm right on this one because when Teams dont show interest in re-signing UFAs conversations break down and agents make statements .

i see it constantly in MTL most recently the Markov and Radulov Saga's in which they both left after MB shut down talks .
kakkoleinen doesnt seem to show any indication that talks have broken down .

Offer Sheets arent free so if a team comes sniffing at Werenski offering a cap they cant afford to sustain then i see CBJ putting more importance in the Picks they're guaranteed with him gone .
especially if they're looking at one or two 1st rounds coming their way .

I would rather offer sheet Werenski than trade those specific assets for him. Werenski is good but that is too much to give up.

Think you quoted the wrong person. Lol.

Anyway would not be to worried about OSing Zach. Signing him will be Jax 1st priority. They already know Bob and Panarin are going to walk. The whole org FO and players alike knew that was the case.

Go look at my profile and Columbus teams I’ve made then comeback and tell me how hard it really is, wait most of those teams have Columbus taking cap dumps back for picks and prospects. You’re forgetting the fact that Columbus also sent good young players down to the AHL and they will most likely have roster spots in the NHL next season so the cap won’t go as fast as you may think.

Also Bobrovsky and Panarin won’t be back because both already sold their houses in Columbus, Duchene is still a maybe to be back.

    we'll see
i am the type of guy to come back in the fall and say i told you so .

Also i looked at your profile and i clicked 5 teams randomly , zero met the cap while filling a roster
you either have 30+ players of less then 15 but not once of those 5 did you have 23 roster players at around 80-83m cap .

yeah i saw , you basically did nothing and stood by it like my niece when she hands me a page with scribbles on it. :P

you ignored all UFA's and pretended the GM would still have a job come fall for sitting on his hands . . . .

He went all in and now it’s time for the repercussions of his actions. None of the UFAs are linked to coming back to Columbus. He will make offers to keep them but they also have to be accepted by the player and his agent. It’s not a one way I’m signing you to a fair contract so you stay, it’s a I’m OFFERING you a contract to stay but the unrestricted free agent can say I’d rather play else where. Just like Tavares did last year signing with the leafs.
