Once the all the RFAs are signed it's reasonable to think the Leafs are about 6.5m or so over the cap. Now the how to get rid of 6,5m of net cap is the problem with various possible solutions.

Yep, you've posted one possible answer.

I have no idea why we didn’t re sign him. He would be perfect with Rosen in the bottom pair.

I thought he was fine. Certainly not a disaster. For the first season in the nhl I think he could hold down a third pair spot this season.

Quoting: Laudan
Till TML will be 25th in SAA and i think i remember correctlly 22nd in SCAA.......

Neither Hasek would keep pace with 60 games played considering the above.....

He wasn't good enough to push Hainsey out of the top pair, and I am not at all a fan of Hainsey. Ozzy isn't good enough. To be honest I have no idea why he was in the lineup over Holl. Holl never looked great but he never looked bad either and often Ozzy looked really bad especially when there was a cycle. He got hemmed into his own end a lot.

I have been looking at similar moves. Kappy for a Dman thygat can hold down third pair and a prospect and brown to the oil.

Yeah I know the blueline is very risky but sometimes fortune favours the bold. One possibility though with this lineup is that it gives you options at the deadline. There are a lot of forwards that are pushing for jobs. What if a couple do better than we expect? That would make Johnsson possibly expendable and then you move him for a defenceman at the deadline.

I don't think moving Kapanen is a good idea, it saps the strength from the middle and creates another hole. And before you say Nylander can take that spot, now you have a hole on RW that prevents you from moving Nylander up the lineup. That is exactly what happened in the playoffs, there was no one else who can play centre on the 3rd line so Nylander was stuck there. So I would not move Kadri. I'd sooner move both Johnsson and Kapanen because I think the rest of the stars will boost whoever makes the team much like they do Johnsson and Kapanen.

Think you mis typed... this makes no sense. Maybe it was Kadri you meant in the first sentence

My moves are simply brown and kapanen.

This one may be a bit ambitious...

I get your point, ppl were telling me we should build from within last summer also when i started preaching tossing some Offence to make solid D.

They will...i think Rosen, Borgman are on good way to be 3rd pair guys, Sandin and Liljegren , i see them both filling the second pair just fine in future....but still, top shutdown RHD is issue to be adressed in my books still.

As i said before....TML wont be in the run for Cup till Marleau contract is off the books. First he shouldnt be signed with knowing those RFAs are coming to take their contracts ( noone expected the Spanish inqui...ehm..sry.....Kapanen and Johnsson to leech so well on Matthews in addition to "Big Three") this last three years ( without Marleau ofc ) should be mainly focused on signing "Big Three" and tossing some old garniture ( you know where im going ) to bring in some shutdown RHDs.

I think Liljegren may turn into something different than what everyone thought when he was drafted. From what Keefe has said, he's vastly improved his defensive play and he is surprisingly physical. Not huge but he's 6'1" and will likely be around 200 when all is said and done. His offensive game hasn't developed as much as others thought but with his skating being next level he has a lot of intriguing tools.
