I definitely agree with you. This was going to be their last chance for a while to win a playoff round, and they were able to put together an impressive run. I also think they can get tons of value if they pursue sign-and-trades with Panarin, Duchene and Bob.

I was pulling for the Jackets, they were fun to watch this postseason.

I don’t think they are sitting that bad, other than some missing picks, but they have a decent base left with some more experience there, a few bargain free agency and some more growth from some young players and they won’t be too far out of wildcard again. Could be a large whole between the pipes though

Was it worth it? I don't know really. While we were given a thrill for a couple of months, it really has damaged our future. Mainly the Duchene trade. On one hand, the Jackets got a star center that they really needed to bolster the line up for the playoffs. One the other hand, it really put Jarmo in a tough spot. Because if he signs Duchene he must relinquish a first round pick in 2020. With the likely departure of both Bread and Bob, the team is likely going to struggle to make the playoffs next season. Meaning that pick has value. But Jarmo can't really let Duchene leave when he gave up so much to get him right? I have a feeling Jarmo might need to do some real work this offseason. And it might mean trading players we may not like to see moved.
