If the rumour about him having full autonomy to hire and fire at will is true, I hope he walks into the Kingsway and Rogers offices with a bazooka and completely purges the organization. It's the only way I'll find his hiring acceptable.

I doubt he agrees to take the haunted Oilers GM post. He's the kind of GM that wants, and needs, full control, and I doubt Bob Nicholson is prepared to keep his hands off and away from the GM's dealings. Additionally, Holland has a pretty sweet set up in Detroit at the moment, and I am sure starting completely new and fresh in Seattle is way more appealing of a job than fixing the forever sinking ship that is the Edmonton Oilers. Edmonton may want him, but that does NOT mean it's mutual. Mark Hunter will likely be your team's next GM, because Hey? As a rookie GM, what does he really have to lose?

I would be happier if we had:
Holland = POHO
Hunter = GM
Burke/Gretzky = AGM

I don't think he's a good GM at this point and we'd be hiring him for his namesake and ability to command respect from other GMs. However, he's probably not as sharp as he once was and that's why we need a GM who can do a majority of the leg work and let Holland approve/disapprove any hockey decisions. Let someone hungry and innovative get a shot at running the team.

Holland in a POHO role would be fine, but why Hunter as the GM proper? His scouting record isn't as hot as everyone made it out to be, and if you want a hungry pair of names, Mike Futa and Pat Verbeek would be much better options as some combination as GM and AGM.

Verbeek would be pretty swell as well. Honestly, none of these names pop out at me. IMO we need a GM who drafts and develops well, manages cap well, and wins more than loses on trades. Whoever that is, I'm all for it.

Forget Hunter, Misha Donskov is my pick or GM.

I am not sure that is true. Whoever has the reins in Seattle will be building a new organization, but in an environment that will be significantly different than what Vegas experienced. While the success of Vegas has certainly been good for that franchise and for overall league revenues and fan interest, NHL teams have learned from the experience and are less likely to be as "generous" during the next expansion draft. In contrast, whomever the Oilers bring in will effectively be rebuilding an organization, and doing so in a hockey-mad city that has consistently sold-out its arena despite a very poor product. The new Oilers GM will also have Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl as two of the cornerstones from which to rebuild, and an amateur scouting staff that has seriously turned things around for the better in recent years.

No confirmation of Holland going anywhere...yet..i have severe doubts he leaves this soon..maybe next yr (ahem Seattle) ..think he takes the year to see if he wants to stay or not...and I heard via friend..on tsn bobcast (Bob McKenzie) that verbeek IS joining Yzerman here in Detroit so if true he's off the list too...selfishly i hope my wings poach tbl highly touted scout Al Murray too..who has an Yzerman leaving out clause also like verbeek did
