Ranger fan here and I agree. The first and Fox would probably be enough if Carolina loses to the Islanders. If they advance that 1st rounder becomes pick 28 or worse, and in that case a third would be appropriate.

Want to hire good scouts? The Leafs paid them more to stay at home. Want endorsement deals? The Leafs through MLSE, would do it for free. Want to offer a player more? The Leafs could line up 10 million in endorsement deals in a week (remember the Stamkos thing? The Leafs had the CEO of Coke in the negotiation room to offer him a deal that wouldn't count against the cap, that would be worth 2 years salary of what he is getting paid right now).

Also, Kapanen is reportedly EXTREMELY team friendly and is willing to work on a short term deal (like 2 years) at a good cap hit to stay in Toronto, and play with his friend Nylander.

As for your first that could be 28th overall or higher. Foegle isn’t a decent prospect for anything so I’d stag away from that trade if I was the Rangers.

I feel like Kreider would be more of a mid teens first round and a ok prospect.

On the other hand, Carolina is taking a risk because they don't know if Kreider will resign with them. I guess the first thing is that the trade wouldn't happen until the playoffs end so you will know for sure where that pick is.

You can always play around with conditional picks. Kreider for Fox, a 2019 2nd, and a 2021 3rd that becomes a 1st if he resigns or if Carolina wins the Cup in 2020.

The Kapanen trade makes no sense, Toronto need a D man, and Gautheir is worse defensively then anyone they have right now...

Edmonton has plenty of space to re-sign Puljujarvi. The trade makes no sense because Edmonton has no need for Fleury - they have plenty of better LHD on the roster already.

Maybe you found something I can't, but I haven't seen anything anywhere saying they are related at all.
