Hot take (no one's going to like it and I question it myself): but maybe Toronto should start looking whether or not Freddy Andersen is the goalie they can win a cup with. He was great this series. Undoubtedly their MVP and backbone. & he's not the reason why they lost. ..... BUT.... that's 2 years in a row where he didn't show up in game 7. & he didn't show up well in game 6 this year when they had a chance to close it out on home ice. I know the team didn't play well in front of him, but still might be worth a look. He's career game 7 numbers are also pretty brutal. He won't get traded but I'd at least keep my phone open on him if I was Dubas.

Jake Gardner is another one who just isn’t good enough in his own end. He needs to move to somewhere that his past will not haunt him. Added nothing to this team in this series except more giveaways that cost them.

Hate you trading Kapanen. He showed real heart in this series and real progress this season. We should sign him 3 x 3.2

Really hate your trading of zaitsev. He and Muzzin were a really good pairing and I would keep them together

Hate adding Ferland. I assume this is a move to add toughness. We showed plenty of that and I would rather have Kapanen.

Sabres definitely do not make that trade. I'd take Kadri but he's not worth a first, and Nelson is going to be potentially the only righty from last season active for the start of next season - Risto hopefully traded, Bogosian recovering from surgery. Can't see them trading Nelson

I'm a Sabres fan and I would happily make that trade. The 1st is going to be 25th-31st and Nelson is a good 3rd pair guy but we want room for better players in Buffalo. Our right side next year will likely be Montour, Risto, Borgen/Bogosian with Hunwick or Scandella as the 7th guy

Fair enough but if nothing changes with this team and it's culture then they won't ever beat Boston. That 3rd line is all heart and hustle which the Leafs could always use more of. Zaitsev is dumped due to his contract, not his gameplay. Reimer is a fan favourite and is much better than Sparks. Ferland is a solid 2-way player is everything you want Kapanen to be. Overall I think this team is much more physical and has a nice mix of offensive and defensive defensemen. Also the goaltending is upgraded and the forward group is shaken up but still very fast and strong

Why would the Rangers help you out like that. Toronto was stupid for giving him that contract, so if you want the rangers to not only take on his $6.5 million contract (that's a lot of money, even for billionaires) and then eat that money so that you can resign? Gonna cost a lot more than a 2nd and a future NHL-AHL player
