From a Sabres perspective, that's very enticing even without a guarantee of re-signing. But it would have to be sooner rather than later. I think if it's a TDL deal he surely would test the market. If he has some more time to play with young talents like Eichel/Mittelstadt, help mentor someone like Dahlin, and realize the city is actually not a bad place; the Sabres may take that chance.
Caps say no way. Samsonov is probably the best goaltending prospect right now, and Vrana has a ton of upside, and team control. Plus, we already have Carlson to man the PP.
I think you (and posters here) are hugely overvaluing 1-year of Karlsson. He was 8th best D-man in the league at producing points last year (All strengths points/60), but was on the ice for 21 more GA than GF (5v5) 61-82. His 42.66% GF% was good for 6th best on his team.
Unless a team is gunning for a Cup this year and this year only, Karlsson isn't of much interest. And, most of the contending teams are fairly close to cap already, meaning less room to add talent and lower chance of re-signing Karlsson.
No they wouldn't. They aren't contending this year and they probably can't afford his $11M contract going forward, so this trade makes very little sense for the Oilers.
This is a joke, right? I'd rather have Ellis than Karlsson, not to mention 9 more years of team control vs 1 for Karlsson, $6.25M going forward vs $11+, 2 good ankles vs 1, etc. etc.
You clearly have no clue how player valuation works in this league.
