Description
Canadiens get a maybe center? Seen a lot of Habs fan trading for him so why not?

Kulikov contract is really bad for a bottom pairing guy. Not a bad player just a bad contract. Get an equivalent player but comes off the books next year. Have to give up a first but that means you can resign Laine/Connor/Wheeler.

Teams exchange upcoming free agents and helps with each others needs. PHI gets top 4 RHD thats not Macdonald. WPG makes up for the scoring loss in Perreault with Simmonds.

Stasny seems to love it there in WPG so why not sign another deal for another attempt at a cup?

Plenty of money to sign core.

I think Montreal would be happy with the deal, assuming the legs on the 30-year-old are still churning.

A good trade value for Perreault but we don't really need a 3rd line center...would be a good option for a plan C or D...

Of course Stastny can sign with any team, but maybe Montreal, who have cap room, overpays to acquire Stastny

Giving up a 1st is WAY WAY too expensive just to get rid one problematic year on Kulikov's contract. We have the cap space to handle it this season and we've seen how you need depth on D. I agree paying Myers and Kulikov that kind of money on 3rd pairing isn't long term sustainable....but we have the space in 2018-19 and then Myers is off the books.
If we need to move Kulikov in the summer of 2019 (only 1 year left on deal) it will be cheaper to unload....maybe we attach a mid round pick of B level prospect.

Kulikov is on the books for 2 more years after this. He will take up much needed space for Laine, Connor, and Wheeler, and Copp. Jets are doing great even if its a first itd be a late first so basically a second. Myers is the only one thats sustainable because he does come off the books in a year. The first might be a little rich I wonder if the Jets would be willing to give up Roslovic or someone like Petan to get rid of Kulikov.

If its just for money yeah he would go there. I think he wants to win and MTL isnt the place for that (at least right now).

Myers for Simmonds is enough - No 2nd involved
Kulikov and first is too much. Kulikov and 3rd or 4th is good
Pay Morrissey and Hellebuyck 5.5 and Trouba 6
Get rid of mason (and resign hutch) instead of trading for Simmonds and keep myers for another cup run.
Play roslovic with little on RW
Perreault doesn't have to be replaced because lemieux is ready and Vesalainen might be
