STL will not trade Thomas. They have plans for him.

WSH can't afford to have Steen if they're resigning Carlson.

Acquiring De Haan rights is pointless, he's UFA.

That was more to get Sobotka’s contract out of the way, bt I see what ur saying. I mean, the WSH one I only did to get the question out of if they need a new Goaltender. I don’t follow the Blues, so I was wondering what they thought about the road ahead for their team.

Yea Blues love Steen, they have plans for Thomas, Schmaltz, Kostin, Barbashev, Thompson, Walman, and Kyrou. Blues trust that Allen will get the job done which he has averaging like 2-3 goals scored on him a game. That was the same through out the year. Difference is we went from 4 goals a game to 2 goals a game. Goaltending is not the problem. Sobotka is doing well as our playmaker, blues aren’t giving up Sobotka, We are Solid at Blueline no need in De Haan or Orpik. Our backup will either be Hutton, or Ville Husso. As much as I love Johnny T, I fear the Blues aren’t out to spend that much. Max Pacioretty is unneeded Steen, Schwartz are perfect winger tandem. Trade Berglund and Bouwmeester and start relying on those young prospects

Don't think Grubauer is that much of an upgrade over Allen in all honesty.

Patches might get traded at the draft but it doesn't make a lot of sense he'd go to the Blues. The cost to get him just doesn't make any sense especially since he's a LW and only has 1 year left. Army isn't trading for a rental in a deep position already. Countless Habs fans want Thomas because their center depth is almost non-existent. After Schenn it's the same situation in St.L. They're not trading Thomas.

That’s why Army is probably going to get a Rental at Center

Trading Paul Stastny was sort of a dumb idea. I mean I get the reason for getting a First Round pk and his contract is up after this season, but what reason would Paul Stastny wouldn’t resign for his hometown team.

Top 6 players are expensive to trade for. What top 6 center do you envision the Blues being legitimately interested in? Army isn’t trading away the farm of prospects for a rental at any position. He’s said as much publicly. He’s trying to build a roster that will compete for years to come. He’s not making a huge deal for a rental in an all in move for 1 year.

Maybe Stastny is asking for more money and term than the Blues want to give. He’ll be what, 33 in December? Getting the 1st was the best possible outcome. It’s just too bad the Blues decided to try after that instead of tanking and keeping a top 10 pick.

I envision us getting a rental player like Dylan Larkin type player who has a decent contract for a year left. That way you have a younger guy that you can sign a long term deal.

TB isn’t trading T.J. & no thanks to the other 3 unless Army can trade both Sobotka & Berglund.

honestly robert thomas could be 2nd line centre next year

    schwartz - schenn - tarasenko
    steen - thomas - berglund
    fabbri - sobotka - thompson
    barbashev- brodziak - jaskin

not a terrible starting lineup, kyrou and kostin could easily crack the lineup as well

Sheary doesn't fit the bill. The Blues literally have 1 top 6 line in Schwartz, Schenn, & Tarasenko. I expect Army to be aggressive at the draft. The 1st round pick the Blues currently own is trade bait. He's not going to make a splash for a guy like Sheary imo. The Blues have to get actual top 6 talent like Hoffman etc..

I'll be pleasantly surprised if Thomas is playing 2C next year. I won't be shocked but there's no way I'd pencil in now. If he's the 2C he needs better wings than Berglund & Steen. Steen I could live with but blah to Berglund. I don't see how Berglund and Sobotka both return to the roster next year. I think 1 of them has to be traded and Sobotka is the easier one to trade. That top 9 on your roster honestly won't cut it if the Blues are serious about competing.

the question is if the team wants to keep all their assets and build for the future, or try and win ASAP. I guess we will find out based on if they trade WPG 2018 1st round pick or not

The Blues could use a winger who has a net front presence, like JVR and a 1C. They have really seemed to miss Backes and his ability to make chaos happen in front of the net. Honestly, I think they’d move Kyrou in the right deal. One of Berglund or Sobotka will be gone and personally they could move Steen or Allen and I wouldn’t care. Biggest need overall is scoring, can’t win putting up the numbers we did this year

Haha yeah a guy like Simmons would be a nice pickup as it seems that PHI may try to move him and get a return before he is a UFA. JVR would be an upgraded version of that role. Kane would also be a good punch to the scoring, good to see that the “issues” that followed him in BUF have disappeared in SJ. I honestly think the Blues package the WPG 1st and Kyrou along with another asset to try and solve their C problem. I think you see Thomas get a shot at the 3rd line. MTL seems like an ideal partner for Berglund as he would probably be their 2nd line C. As far as Dmen go, I think we are solid in the top 4 with Dunn, Eddy, Parayko and the captain but after that we have Bortuzzo and Wakeman/Schmaltz. I think one of them gets moved so it’s would make sense to get player on the cheap who projects as a 4/5 guy. Gunny and Bowme can’t be counted on for next season due to injuries. Unless Army gets a sure thing like Holtby, Price etc I don’t see us moving on from Allen this offseason. He real question will be whether they want to give Husso the reigns as backup or do they sign a 1 yr veteran deal.
