There is no one on Colorado that Montreal would trade Drouin for, unless MacKinnon is going the other way.

ottawa's 1st and jost who was a top 10 pick gets that reaction?

what has drouin done that has made him such a superstar?

hes a nice player, but we are now 4.5 years past his draft and he hasn't broken out.

hes a 50-60 point player who coasts at times.

Tyson Barrie is outscoring Drouin, heck even soderberg is. You think Drouin at 19 points and struggling to play C would get you the 2nd leading scoring in the league in MacKinnon. Take the homer glasses off man

You do realize how MacKinnon is on a complete different level that Droun...and I dont think Montreal has any of the pieces to combine with Drouin to part with one of the most exciting young Cs in the game this year

MacKinnon isn't going anywhere. I agree.
Drouin will be fine. Give him a couple years and let him play wing. He'll be closer to a point per game player.
Huberdeau is similar but was drafted 2 years sooner. He's almost a point per game this season. Drouin had better numbers in the Q, and nobody doubts his ability, so it's only a matter of time before he catches up.
That's assuming Montreal is able to correct their deficit at center of course. Nobody is putting up good numbers without a legitimate center. Something the Habs seem determined to prove. wink

I meant Montreal's not trading Drouin to Colorado unless MacKinnon was involved (in which Montreal would have to add, and would also never happen).

I get that montreal fans have a thing for MacKinnon bc of the drouin juniors connection. But that ship has sailed. Avs have a better shot at getting Drouin away from the Habs vs Habs being able to get MacKinnon.
Teams are just at 2 different trajectories right now

As it stands that's an overpayment for Drouin. With what you could hope to get by re-uniting Drouin with MacKinnon, it's probably a fair offer, and you are still taking a gamble. MTL gets a future #1C in Jost, a good first pick either this year or next year and Yakupov to try with Galchenyuk to see if they can re-establish their chemistry from the OHL. There is absolutely NOTHING Montreal have (except maybe their next 20 first round picks) that would persuade me to trade MacKinnon to them. Other teams might have those pieces, Montreal does not.
