Would Petry Waive to Buffalo

Good thought on the trade. Don't think the picks are a big attraction to the Sabres. It's whether the Sabres think Petry is good value at 6.25m for the next two years.

theyre super careful about giving any term to anyone over 30. They overpaid their entire 4th line and EJ simply to avoid to an extra year on any of their deals. Doubt theyd want to take on petry at 6.25 with an extra year attached.

I think that it's far more about the sweeteners than contract value. Petry isn't awful by any means and he's a great veteran influence, but his contract currently is an overpay. Buffalo is getting close but, similar to a team like Detroit, isn't quite a playoff team yet, so the draft picks should be a nice way to boost their capital.
