Description
This is my take at what I think the LA off-season could look like WITHOUT spending assets to move Cal Peterson.

The cap is tight, but it can be done. And if they need to go a more unfavorable route, they could move a guy like Iafallo or Arvidsson to clear up space. But this is what I've got so far.

LAK
  1. Choix de 1e ronde en 2023 (TOR)
Détails additionnels:
This move takes advantage of the LA glut on RD by moving an asset who's value is probably pretty high, creating just a bit more cap space, and opening a spot on the roster for one of Clarke or Spence.
STL
  1. Durzi, Sean
  2. Choix de 2e ronde en 2024 (LAK)
Détails additionnels:
If St. Louis is looking to retool and finds a way out of Krug or Faulk's contracts to create space, I can see a fit where the Kings send Durzi to man the Blues #1PP along with a future 2nd round pick (or this years Pit 3rd round) to move into the late 20's of the 1st round.
2.
LAK
  1. Choix de 3e ronde en 2023 (DAL)
Détails additionnels:
A mid range 3rd round pick seems appropriate for someone who would play at least #2RD for Chicago.
CHI
  1. Walker, Sean
Détails additionnels:
I think Walker would be a good fit for Chicago as they need NHL players pretty much everywhere to try to at least Bedard feel SOMEWHAT supported. Walker is just expendable to LA due to the amount of talent they have coming up on the right side of the defense. Even in his exit interview, he seems ready for the inevitable trade this summer.
3.
LAK
  1. Choix de 4e ronde en 2024 (COL)
Détails additionnels:
Not even sure what he would return. I'll say a 4th from 2024 because there isn't much else.
COL
  1. Grundström, Carl
Détails additionnels:
Grundstrom just seems like he'd be a really good fit in Colorado. They have a ton of ending contracts and need help with bottom-6 talent. Grundstrom can provide that for relatively cheap.
4.
LAK
  1. Choix de 4e ronde en 2024 (PIT)
PIT
  1. Lizotte, Blake
Détails additionnels:
Who needs a decent, if undersized, 3C that brings compete off the charts? Maybe Pittsburgh? I dunno. I love Lizotte as a player, but he's getting pushed out by the up-and-coming talent in the pipeline. At some point guys like Kupari and Turcotte will need roster spots.

Remove that 2nd round pick going back to St Louis in that Durzi trade. Late first for Durzi would be reasonable as is.

Lizotte at 1.675m cap and dropping 34 points, while also being 51% on draws makes him more valuable than a 4th round pick. 2nd at minimum in my mind.

I assume Graves gets at least 4.5m a year on his next contract.

Vilaradi also gets more on a bridge deal. 23 goals, 41 pts in 63 games. His bridge could even be 4m x 2 years.

Just some of my thoughts smile

The Hawks aren't really in a position to be sending picks away. It's entirely possible that another team sends a 3rd for Walker, so I don't want to knock the value. It's probably pretty fair to be honest. I just don't think it'll be the Hawks. They need to give their own prospects ice time for their development. Hawks currently have Jones/Muphy locked up as #1/#2 RD. I hope ither Mitchell/Regula get that #3 slot with Zaitsev already on the bench at the RD position.

I wouldn't give that contract to Korpisalo. We should have learned our lesson from the Cal Petersen contract. Don't commit to a guy as your starter before he has ever played in the NHL as a starting goaltender.

I'd give him a "prove it" deal for 1-2 years @ $2-2.5M. If he works out, then you can sign him long term.

Just a couple or responses to your well thought out comments. (with the disclaimer that my post was more to look at the Cap situation of players still in LA after the trades)

1) I'd love to think Durzi gets a 1st on his own, but I'm not going to pretend that he doesn't have his faults. And teams know what those are. He's very good at what he does, I'm just not sure he's able to get that 1st rounder by himself.
2) I agree with Lizotte's value with you.... at the deadline when teams over pay. Off-season is about becoming cap compliant and value tends to drop a little. Maybe true value is somewhere in the middle? Meh. Not hard-over on it.
3) Graves is the biggest sticking point of this. If the Kings can save elsewhere (like Korpisalo's contract as @tkecanuck341 suggests), then that money goes straight to upping the offer to Graves.
4) My thought process with the Vilardi deal is much more akin to what Mikey Anderson got this year. In essence, it's not a "bridge" deal so much as it is a "We'll pay you as soon as Kopitar's contract drops off the books" deal. And the Kings have proven they're good for their word with the 8 year deal to Mikey after signing the 1milx1year deal last year.
