Do the Kings have the cap room.to sign Debrincat? I really think they don't.

Sorry -- we won't have the cap space to cover the difference between Kempe's $5.5 million hit and whatever DeBrincat is going to get: we need that money to shore up the left side of the defense and sign another goalie.

Similarly to what I tell those who want to send Debrincat back to Chicago to sign a long term contract, if after the season he had last year, Debrincat wanted to bet on himself and wait til his UFA year to sign a long term deal, he is definitely going to want to bet on himself again after having a down year in Ottawa. He probably won't fetch more than he's on right now, and it will probably only be a one year deal to take him to UFA. Besides money, risk also just isnt worth it for LA

Aside from not being able to afford Debrincat, Kempe is on his second 30+ goal campaign in a row, his contract rules if he keeps this up.

Kings kept the better, cheaper, more term Kempe rather than DeBrincat.
