Description
Before I took an interest in hockey, I grew up watching the Chicago Blackhawks dynasty, so I have a lot of fond memories of Kane and Toews. So I’m not sure if the value is right here (I really, really don’t care), I realize Toews and Kane likely end up elsewhere, but for now, I just wanted to fantasize about the possibilities here.

I think that Top 6 is legitimately dangerous. Both lines and shoot, pass and play defense. I feel like a better faceoff percentage would help put the Isles into a true contending status. Toews has historically been a good faceoff guy. I’ve also often liked the idea of bringing over long time teammates simultaneously, I feel like it lets Kane and Toews ease in more nicely.

This Top 6 also gives us a ton of flexibility. I could see plenty of configurations of this working, Nelson and Lee could be switched, Kane and Toews could be reunited if that works out well. I really feel like there are a lot of good line combinations with this team.

In terms of what we give up, I feel like it’s a steep price but still worthwhile. As deep as the 2023 draft is, I feel like we’re not going to get a high enough pick to strike gold anyways. As promising as Iskhakov looks, Raty and Dufour both still look like they’re on track to be NHL forwards. Bolduc has been off to a hot start, but Salo and Aho soften the blow of losing an LHD prospect. I feel like Beauvillier would be a good fit in a faster system like Chicago and Top 6 forwards with term are always valuable. Bailey is admittedly part of the trade to balance the cap, but honestly, I’m not sure how Chicago moves Kane or Toews without taking cap back.

I highly doubt either Kane or Toews would agree to extensions post the trade, but anything can happen. As we know, extensions can't be negotiated as part of a trade.

That being said, I doubt Chicago would accept this offer, it's just too light. Toews is playing very well again and see no reason he can't get a late 1st with 1/2 retained. Kane is going to take a late 1st and very good prospect. I don't think either of the prospects you included will work as the Hawks have a logjam of young players/prospects on defense especially on the left side and Bolduc doesn't move the needle to displace any of them. Iskhakov is far from being a lock to be a NHL player IMO (I'm willing to be he never becomes a fulltime NHL player) and a prospect that isn't a lock to be a NHL player is not going to hold much value in a trade for Kane or Toews.

Like I said above, I kinda don’t care too much about value, this ain’t happening so who cares. I just wanted to see what it would look like to have all of my favorite players together on one roster, and Kane and Toews both being impending UFAs on a rebuilding team makes it plausible at least by ACGM standards.

That said, Bolduc has drawn some pretty flattering comparisons and Iskhakov got off to a pretty hot start in the AHL this year. They’re certainly worthwhile prospects. Though if you’re more interested in roster players, I feel like Beauvillier fits well with the Hawks. He’s still young enough where he’ll be around when you guys complete your rebuild.

This is a move contenders make - both Kane and Toews are complimentary players at this point in their careers. The isles need players who can drive a line, players under the age of 30.

The isles under no circumstances should move their 2023 1st unless it’s for a top line winger in his prime

Not saying Bolduc or Iskhakov are worthless, they are not, but not moving the needle for the Hawks. On an aside note, I honestly don't see Iskhakov ever becoming a fulltime NHL player. He's too small, not dynamic enough to make up for it like a Debrincat can.
