Tatar likely comes cheap as NJD are likely going to have 1-2 forwards squeezed by with Wood returning and Holtz, Zetterlund and Foote all up for NHL spots.

But I have always felt he was out of sync with Devils. Very skilled and great for possession game. Just didn’t seem to be on same page with teammates/linemates. Almost appeared selfish at times.

Maybe it clicks in 2nd year but I’m not holding my breathe. Devils probably take a mid-pick or mid-prospect for him.

Completely agree. If Fiala were up for grabs in 2 years at his age and playing this way, great. But ducks are still rebuilding. Not the time to throw a bunch of young assets, and locking up big money long-term to move from 10th worst to 14th worst
