Exactly why a buyout is the only move. Mrazek is over 30, injury prone, and has been godawful this year. He's got two more years left at starter's money ($3.8M AAV) and I can't think of a single team in the league who would be better off with him replacing their starter. You can't even really dump him on an Arizona because his contract is backloaded and he gets paid higher than his AAV in the last 2 years. He's a toxic asset, and whatever Dubas would have to attach to him to dump him is going to be more valuable than the cap penalty the buyout will cost - $1.03M/$833K/$1.43M/$1.43M over the next 4 seasons according to CF.
