The problem with Giroux moving is him wanting a trade.
He stays in PHL, he works out a fair deal that works for him and has term.

He goes to COL, does not play well, and his next contract looks like a mess.

The issue here is not that he can't play well in COL. But that if he stays put, he really doesn't lose anything. But if he moves he does risk something.
I think that is the part that is really unspoken on CG right now.
Not saying he wouldn't like to go compete for a cup. But he has no contract or term right now. He has more to lose than to win.
