Rakell doesnt have that kind of value. He's a minor upgrade over Kerfoot with less term, you won't see assets like firsts or top prospects going back in a deal involving those 2.

I can't see us getting the guy Toronto traded Kasperi Kapanen for, plus another first-round pick, not to mention an actual NHL middle-6 forward, all for Rakell.

I would assume this is in response to the article Lebrun wrote "6 deadline deals that would shake up the NHL" or something or other. He is having a down year, but an extra year of control helps so hes not a true rental. Ultimately I think he COULD return that kind of value in a bidding war, but I don't think it would be from the Leafs who are gonna need scorers on ELCs to maximize their window.

Agreed Kerfoot and a 1st would be more than fair for 1.5 years of Rakell. Toronto gave 2 B prospects and a 1st for 1.5 years of Muzzin. Forwards are worth less than top 4 Dman so we aint giving an A prospect, a servicable top 6/3c player and a 1st for 1.5 years of Rakell

He won't get that kind of return with another middle 6 winger with longer term going back in the deal.
