Description

I don't think Vegas is going to get much if any value for shipping out Pacioretty given their Cap situation. Anaheim takes him and gives him a chance to put up some points and look to flip him for futures over the next 3 seasons if they choose to commit to a rebuild. If they don't want to rebuild enjoy the goals. Vegas puts Kesler on LTIR. In a typical season, a player as good as Pacioretty would require the Ducks add more pieces but alas it is not a typical season.

I disagree 100%. The guy just put up 66 pts. in 71 games. No, I don't think that Vegas is going to get the moon for him, but they'll get a lot better offer than Carter friggin' Rowney.

Signed: A Ducks fan that would love Patches in the right situation, but doesn't see a fit without actual cap going back to Vegas (Which they can't afford to do).

They got more value than that by trading Stastny, who had less term but is a lesser player than Patches is. I'm not saying he'll get a top pick or a top prospect, but a 4th liner and a LTIR contract seems like a reach

Look at Schmidt, in a regular year he gets a 1st + easy and only got a 3rd from a division rival. Look at patches last 3 seasons averaged.
67 GP, 23G, 24A, ( I know +/- is trash but -11 in those 3 years). That is not worth 7M, especially in COVID times. he will not get anymore than a 3rd in value and even then they would be lucky to get that

EDIT: Never said he'd get this little, but this is closer to the reality than the trades ive seen for him so far
