Yeah it's unlikely but there's slim chance that he'd accept tho, not 0 chance. To stay in Tampa (AKA the best team who has been swipe in 1st round of last year playoffs by a wild card team) he would have to accept a huge discount on his contract witch is rarely the case of russian player. So there's more chances he accept an offer sheet from an another team but you dont choose the team unless you have few possible offersheets.

Yeah because a guy who nearly started his career at the time with 4 games with MTL can be angry toward the team who trade him when the guy hasnt prove anything in nhl and in exchange of a guy who had a 53 pts season. I dont say the guy's been there for the last 10 years and being trade , so he have to move is entire family and they had a life there and the team want him back 2 years after trading him, id say no as well. But yeah the guy could be pissed also for earning net AAV of 1.11M near the beach in tampa versus 821k in the cold weather of montreal. Now situation have changed and Mtl have great assets to become competitive between a wild card and being contender and if he could make more money there also and being an essential for the succes of this team, i'd consider it.

I completely agree with you about that but drouin was supposed to be better than he actually is. So definitely montreal shoudn' have make this trade but its easy to say it couple years after. In that case, you have to trade two of these guys to sign him and cirelli (Kucherov, Stamkos, Palat, gourde, johnson, killorn, Mcdonagh, hedman).

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CaptainFlynnt</b></div><div>I wanted the habs to offersheet Nurse 2 years ago when Edmonton had no cap space. They could have had him for possibly a 2nd round pick, or a 1st and 3rd.
They missed the boat, Nurse isn't worth Drouin, Mete, and a 2nd. That's a bad trade for MTL. They have Romanov, Struble, Norlinder, Harris... better off waiting for one of them to be ready than overpaying for a guy like Darnell Nurse.</div></div>
In that case, what 1st left defenseman they should target by a trade which imply Domi or Drouin (a choice has to be made here and i pick to trade drouin cause he's signed for a couple of years and still have potentiel but domi fits more in DNA of MTL spirit and have more potential than drouin i think.), If you look into this we could be contender real soon with a great backup goalie and first left defenseman. Tatar will be resign to long term cause he loves playing in mtl and love the city plus he produces a lot so you cant have all theses player in your lineup.
In this case your forward lineup could look like this in couple of years:
1st line : Tatar - Suzuki - Gallagher
2nd line : Domi - Kotkaniemi - Caufield
3rd line : lekhonen - danault - XX
4ht line : XX - poehling - evans
I know you have to pay to receive which is why i think an early 2nd pick, drouin (who still have potential) and Mete (good potential too but not on a first pair) could land a top 2-3 guy and this is a big missing part in montreal on the left side since markov departure. I think montreal wont suffer too much in a long term for trading this package because nothing garanty us that drouin will become a top forward but he could be on the wing of Mcdavid and be damagable more than in mtl lineup. Yes, Mtl have great rookie but it will take time and you have a window now with price, weber, petry, gallagher, and tatar.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>palhal</b></div><div>Don't really see why the Habs need another RHD. Golgoski an American just might have a non playoff Canadian team on his 8 team "don't trade to" M NTC list.</div></div>
not quite sure that he's a RHD if you look where he's been playing with the coyotes (<a href="https://www.dailyfaceoff.com/teams/arizona-coyotes/line-combinations/" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" target="_blank">https://www.dailyfaceoff.com/teams/arizona-coyotes/line-combinations/</a>) And the left side in montreal is quite poor in my opinion (chiarot, mete, kulak, maybe romanov next year). Since Markov's gone the left side had trouble especially because you dont have a 1st pair LHD to replace him and i think that and a great backup goalie are the missing pieces to be contenders.

goligoski great move
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CaptainFlynnt</b></div><div>I'm not advocating for Mete to get PP time. His 5 on 5 production is good for a defenceman though. I dont see the point in looking at career average for a guy who has played 19, 20, and 21 year old seasons, there should still be development (he went from 0 goals to 4 goals this year haha).
His 5 on 5 play is good his skating helps Montreal play with the puck and although it doesn't translate to offensive production for himself the team is on the right side of things when he is on the ice, as seen in his +/-. Its simple, when he is in the ice MTL scores more than the other team.
I would like to upgrade Mete, but I certainly wouldn't be trading Mete for pucks if I was moving on from him.</div></div>
You have a good point here and i didnt see it that way. You didnt convince me but at least id gave him a bridge deal to see what he could be with more development hahah ;) It was nice to exchange thoughts with you :)

goligoski great move
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CaptainFlynnt</b></div><div>Mete is a 21 year old, 20 point defenseman (with no powerplay time), and has been a + player in all three seasons of his career (to put it into perspective that is 1st, 1st, and 2nd to weber in each season for +/- among D).
Yes, let's trade him for pucks.</div></div>
I agree with you he's not that bad but if you look into is stats (<a href="https://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/pdisplay.php?pid=177588" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" target="_blank">https://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/pdisplay.php?pid=177588</a>), you'll see that he have an average of 0.18 point per game in his NHL career. I feel like he's between two chair, he doesnt play physical which is important as a defenseman because if you cant play the puck you at least play the guy but he's not strong enough to do this. But suppose that in this new NHL era the physical isnt that much important compared to 90's and beginning of 2000's. In his case offensive stats doesnt follow he's missing some great opportunities so like Claude julien i wont put a guy in powerplay to score goals when he add great occasions to do so and miss the net 3 times on 5 fives shots (dont bring the argument that he's in the nhl and i dont because i pretty aware of that and i dont put his hockey ability on the line compared to normal people because he's better than a lot of people like the guy still is in the nhl.) But NHL is a performance league so he have to produce on something and its not on physical side neither offensive side which bothers me a little. Thats why i said trade him but of course he wont be trade for peanuts or pucks, my mistake to put it in the same trade of the others.

SUMMER ALL IN
Because you have to be contender next year after that youll have so many ufa and you wont be using your great assets as Price and weber when they are here and could play big hockey considering they will decline in a few years. Surely KK will be good but i doubt he will be the first line center as expected. Also you bring dubois a Quebec guy who's really good and havent reach is full potential. Being around of leader and though guy like Weber, Gallagher, Kovy, Thompson and Danault, he would learn from them and could be the First Center that we expected. Its just ideas but i think columbus would accept this trade especially that these players could be great in nhl in the next few years and this will help their rebuild. For Col, the domi's value is pretty low and he'll probably ask too much as rfa for his talent, so you'll have to pay to give him. A trade for graves with colorado is fair because they have good prospect pushing in defense and Have Graves and Zadorov to resign as RFA. Since their window is close from now and the 2-3 years from now they get a good forward and prospects and MTL patch their first pair left side. But yeah its risky but something as ti happen this summer. We're like between two phase Vets are getting older so either trade them to make a full (great) rebuild or make some trades that who affect your core but will help them to win a cup.

Yeah i inlcude Kulak in the deal because lately he's been playing well but for sur he is not the caliber of Leddy. Lehkonen add some gripp for playoffs and he really good on back check and he wont hurt you with bad turnovers because hes responsable so i thought for a playoffs run it coul be better these two than only leddy. But yeah for sure it could happen this summer theres no rush on our MTL side.

Allright you do you, but in medium long term its difficult in my mind to see this team win the cup after next year because you'll have to resign so many important pieces and not at any price or cheap prices. Example like graves, zadorov burakovsky, jost, nishuskin, kamenev, Makar,Kaut. Please dont tell me that byram will play on first pair next year and that you think he'll be awesome and play great defensively. Waht happen if yes he put 60 pts but cost you a lot of goals in the other hand, you are not in rebuild and offensive wins seasons but defensiive wins championship. But put also big contracts with grubaeur (3.33 but will ask more), landeskog (5.6m), girard (5m), Mckinnon (6.3m) and rantanen (9.25m), this doesn't let you a lot of space on the cap to resign a lot of those guys. Heres the question you want a cup or saw games with spectacular offensive (Makar, Byram)

Graves plays on their first pair and have potential so it was to balance and give them a chance to draft a prospect. I want to be fair here but I could put a 3rd instead.

Canadian market
my point here was that for the same guy a canadian market will have to overpay. Also i know they're others various reason about signing somewhere i am well aware of that. Tavares is native from toronto and they build their team with the draft so it was a good opportunity for him.
But let me give you an exemple of how its bad to attract a UFA/RFA
Lets say a guy like brayden point who sign in tampa at 6.75 m and we are just talking of money here not of the imponderables.
He wins 6.75 millions but clear 4.077 millions at a taxes rate of 39.6% in tampa
If Montreal want to sign him because they are contender like Toronto right now (witch is not the case but just imagine montreal is better and want to make improvements in the summer to become more succesful and similar to tavares ufa signature because they have a great core with youngs prospect that were draft) , for point to have the same money in his pocket in montreal and in tampa, Montreal will have to propose a 8.7 millions salary but the impact on the cap is higher in montreal for the exact same guy.
So yes i agree players choose to go there or not for many reasons but now in our days, cash is something to consider and the impact on the cap is not the same for the exact same amount in the pockets of the players which is my point. All other things equal you have the choice to make clear in your pocket 3 millions in montreal (for 6.75m) or 4 millions in tampa for (for 6.75m) so on four years contract you put 4 millions more directly in your pockets in tampa. So 95 % of people will choose tampa as all other things are equal than the money. I dont know if you undertsand my meaning here and i took brayden point example because it was something in montreal this summer but its the same everywhere in canada.
