Frustration between Pettersson and Canucks he might not want to stay
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>xcanuck28</b></div><div>If Petterson decides he wants out of Vancouver, he wont sign on a worse canadian team. He is 100% going to a team in the US with a smaller market/less media. Id say close to 0% chance but who knows.
IF and only if he doesn't want to resign, otherwise pay the man and keep him here lol</div></div>
nahh if we win the lottery + if we get Pettersson I promise you we are making the playoffs. We are much closer than you think. I think this is the off-season Hughes wants to make a splash and load up.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>xcanuck28</b></div><div>Understandable, I assume other teams will have more to offer. Im not a Myers fan by any means, but to be fair he has been decent this year, UFA after this season etc. So I don't see him being a cap dump as much as I used too. Regardless, appreciate your input. Will think things over haha</div></div>
VAN probably doesn’t want to rock the boat too much and I read they said Myers wouldn’t be moved this season
Calgary is looking for Young Players or NHL Ready Prospects, so something like a 2nd + Raty for Tanev UNRETAINED
And if we’re taking a Player/Cap back, we probably want it to be Soucy, Pius Suter or Lafferty

Flames won’t be retaining on Tanev AND taking Myers back without a substantially better offer in place

You;d probably have to add both players in the deal, He'll easily get the equivalent of 3 1st with that sweetheart deal and his production.

Pat Verbeek passes, Detroit beats that offer and doesn't need retention on Vatrano. Detroit is listed as the front runner for him.

Canucks are not going after Vatrano.
If I was Vancouver, I would trade a first-round 2025 pick, a second-round 2026 pick, and Aatu Raty in exchange for Tarasenko (OTT retains 50%).

I feel like that’s decent value for Vatrano. But probably not enough for ANA to actually pull the trigger

I have to say that Staois should take that and run.
Pettersson (the defenseman) is a helluva nice looking prospect. Soup has a lot.of energy.
Really a solid offer that shouldn't be passed up.
But Vatrano is a pipe dream. If Detroit is in the running, Solderblom is very likely going the other way, and he checks off every Verbeek box.

Neither the Guentzel or Vatrano offers are remotely close, Since Detroit is linked to both. We beat those pathetic offers.

Need a Flames fans thoughts on value
If Vancouver really wants to go for it this year I think Lindholm and Tanev make a lot of sense. The Canucks certainly have the goods to acquire both as well. The Flames biggest need is defense prospects, and the Canucks have Wallinder and Brzustewics. Either of those guys would move the needle a lot for the Flames, more so than forward prospects and draft picks.

Why does Vancouver need Elias Lindholm when they have Elias Pettersson?
I rather have Calgary trade Chris Tanev ($2,250,000 retained) in exchange for Tyler Myers or even a Canuck's prospect player like Danila Klimovich or Aaty Ratu.

I thought Tanev would get a 1st + 3rd or so. Reports are suggesting he would be cheaper. I still think he nets a 1st. We will see.
Lindholm is very comparable to Horvat from last year. So 1st + Good Prospect + Cap.

Part 1 Forward Roster Cuts advice appreciated Rathbone time or nah
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Knuckl3s</b></div><div>Dickinson isn't being scratched, he'll get a chance to bounce back and rebuild his value. Hoglander isn't getting traded when he still has a year left on his ELC. I don't see Joshua being a lineup regular this coming season, the only way he makes the opening night lineup is if somebody gets hurt in training camp</div></div>
If Dickinson is in then I feel sorry for his linemates. Who are you taking out?
Hoglander probably won't be moved because his value likely won't be appreciated by other teams.
Allvin talked about Joshua specifically as someone who can help on the PK and as a regular in the lineup. Nothing is guaranteed but it sounds like he has a good chance.

Take out Joshua, he won't be a regular for the team, he wasn't brought in to be one. You forget that Dickinson was a good player in Dallas, I guess he just had a difficult time transitioning to a new team and market after being traded for the first time in his pro career. Too early to write him off

Pearson - Miller - Boeser
Kuzmenko - Pettersson - Podkolzin
Mikheyev - Horvat - Garland
Hoglander - Joshua - Lazar
Dickinson
Pearson or Hoglander are the odd ones out. Pearson makes more sense to move but there may not be a market for him and he had a pretty good year last year. Hoglander is younger and cheaper but he didn't get the same chance to get his footing under Boudreau. He's the exception as he was actually better under Green who utilized him a lot. I would rather run with Miller - Pettersson - Horvat as centers than use Dickinson at 3C by a long shot. With those three centers, the wingers are very interchangeable based on chemistry, matchups, hot streaks, etc. Only problem is one of them will be on the 4th line, either Hoglander or Pearson for me.
Dickinson is who I have scratched up front and I would pay for him to not play for the Canucks again based on last year.
Pearson in a trade could hopefully get us a temporary RHD that is similar in age and cap hit, but I kind of doubt that. In this market I doubt we could move him in any sort of cap clearing move, so that's tough. Hoglander can definitely be moved but the value might be underwhelming. If it's for a young RHD or C then it's something to look into.
I don't see a spot for Rathbone unless he is significantly better than Dermott at camp.
