Description
These lines are not in any order, nor are they how I think theyll play out. More so lined up the forwards is all

I am going to use any advice I've received from previous mock ups, and this thread. Curious to get other opinions on how others would make their forward lines. Using this info, I want to make a final attempt at a roster including trades etc.

*assuming players are slotted into actual suited roles (ex. Pearson/Hoglander on the 4th line isn't ideal)*

a) what are your line combinations?

b) which players do you have scratched? aka who isn't on a line?

c) any advice on what you would personally do with the remaining forwards? how do you value each etc.

d) Is it time Rathbone gets his shot?

Pearson - Miller - Boeser
Kuzmenko - Pettersson - Podkolzin
Mikheyev - Horvat - Garland
Hoglander - Joshua - Lazar
Dickinson

Pearson or Hoglander are the odd ones out. Pearson makes more sense to move but there may not be a market for him and he had a pretty good year last year. Hoglander is younger and cheaper but he didn't get the same chance to get his footing under Boudreau. He's the exception as he was actually better under Green who utilized him a lot. I would rather run with Miller - Pettersson - Horvat as centers than use Dickinson at 3C by a long shot. With those three centers, the wingers are very interchangeable based on chemistry, matchups, hot streaks, etc. Only problem is one of them will be on the 4th line, either Hoglander or Pearson for me.

Dickinson is who I have scratched up front and I would pay for him to not play for the Canucks again based on last year.

Pearson in a trade could hopefully get us a temporary RHD that is similar in age and cap hit, but I kind of doubt that. In this market I doubt we could move him in any sort of cap clearing move, so that's tough. Hoglander can definitely be moved but the value might be underwhelming. If it's for a young RHD or C then it's something to look into.

I don't see a spot for Rathbone unless he is significantly better than Dermott at camp.

Dickinson isn't being scratched, he'll get a chance to bounce back and rebuild his value. Hoglander isn't getting traded when he still has a year left on his ELC. I don't see Joshua being a lineup regular this coming season, the only way he makes the opening night lineup is if somebody gets hurt in training camp

I end up having Pearson and Hoglander being the odd ones out as well. and im actually quite high on Hoglander. Id be more than happy to keep him, assuming he can get enough ice time to show what he can do, earn a spot etc. Problem is, to many other wingers deserve the ice time as well. The kid is a bulldog on the puck, if he gets his defensive side of the game in tact, he would be the type of player others would love to play with.

Sad thing about trade proposals, its hard to convince others of certain prospects value. Stats seem to be all that is considered. Therefore, its near impossble to propose a trade where both teams (fans of each) would be happy.

Id like to see Rathbone given a chance

If Dickinson is in then I feel sorry for his linemates. Who are you taking out?

Hoglander probably won't be moved because his value likely won't be appreciated by other teams.

Allvin talked about Joshua specifically as someone who can help on the PK and as a regular in the lineup. Nothing is guaranteed but it sounds like he has a good chance.

Take out Joshua, he won't be a regular for the team, he wasn't brought in to be one. You forget that Dickinson was a good player in Dallas, I guess he just had a difficult time transitioning to a new team and market after being traded for the first time in his pro career. Too early to write him off

So would you guys say its fair to assume one of Pearson, Garland, Miller and maybe Boeser? would have to be moved then? We can't have a player like Hoglander playing 4th line, or sitting out games. Hes a skilled player who needs time. I agree with Dickenson, Ill slot him into 3c, alongside Hoglander.

Hoglander will bump someone else down to the 4th line if he needs a top 9 spot. It could be Kuzmenko if he struggles out of the gate. A winger could still be moved before training camp, we know there is at least one more shoe to drop for the Canucks this off-season
