Bruins 202223 with Brad and McAvoy back
Like you said another guy could be traded. It should be Foligno, though his contract seems unmovable at this point. Though Reilly should be traded too, and I think he will be moved out, since he’s a useful guy, though doesn’t fit in the Bruins lineup. So no need to buyout Clifton since he’s cheap and good right d depth. Also Zacha will play on the third line moving Frederic down. And if Lysell makes the lineup, he won’t be on the 4th line. And Wagner will be in the ahl, not on the nhl roster. But I’m excited for this team when they’re healthy, with 3 good scoring lines, solid defense and solid goaltending

Scheif trade
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Windjammer</b></div><div>Boston and Winnipeg aren't good trade partners. Any trade for Scheifele would start with Carlo.</div></div>
and that's why it will never start, good luck if you think any team will trade a u25 very solid defensive dman for the worst defensive C in the league, any team who does that is just asking to let in an extra 40+ goals a year. i think maybe you could bring in an Offensive young RHD but defence wins championships and especially for most teams they want their C's to be the more reliable defensive players in their offence.
the last 7 teams to win the cup their best C was very solid defensively
21-20 tampa (brayden Point)
19 Blues ( Ryan O'Reilly)
18 Capitals (Nick Backstrom)
17-16 Pittsburgh (Sidney Crosby)
15/13 Blackhawks (Jonathan Toews)
14/12 Kings ( Anze Kopitar)
11 Bruins ( Patrice Bergeron)
4 out of the last 7 teams to win had a selke winning C lead their team
crosby/point/ backstrom all are very solid in their own end, crosby could compete for a selke and point most likely will one day once bergy/kopi/ o'reilly slow down and depending on how couterier recovers
schiefele just doesn't fit the mold of a 1C stanley cup winning Center
winnipeg has all the talent in the world but when 3 of your top 5 forwards (conner/ schiefele/ wheeler) are ranked as 3 of the top 6 worst defensive forwards in the league and then your other 2 (ehlers/dubois) are ranked in the bottom 25% percentile for 5v5 defence it doesn't translate to much success

Off-Season Thoughts
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CMcAvoy73</b></div><div>I would tend to avoid any site that has the word “rumor,” in it. It also just doesn’t make sense. The post said a one year deal would “make sense for both sides.” I just can’t see an angle where it makes sense for zboril.
Stop it. Don’t be defensive because people disagree with you. The notion that anyone that disagrees with your ACGM is a troll is foolish. If thats your line of thinking, why make it public? Are you just here hoping that people will pat you on the back and tell you what a great job you did? It’s not going to happen when you’re signing Casey desmith to an AHL deal, signing bergeron to a multi year extension (no shot), trading debrusk for a downgrade and a pick (if that was going to happen, it would have happened long ago), getting vancouver to willingly downgrade for a fourth, and moving foligno for an asset.
Disagreement does not equate to trolling. No need to be defensive or argumentative.</div></div>
Your problem is that you’re not constructive at all and you just dismiss things if they aren’t exactly what they think they should be. Take ProHockeyRumors: a reputable aggregator owned by MLB Trade Rumors which might be the most reputable baseball site in existence. You don’t know the site you your response is “ I would tend to avoid any site that has the word ‘rumor’ in it”. Pretentious much? Your typical response to a AGM is more or less “lol no you’re dumb” without any context. You have hard opinions, right or wrong, and just expect that everyone shares them and if they don’t their worthy of your belittling but not any actual thought and consideration. My guess is that it makes you feel good about yourself to just publicly state that you know more than others but by not providing any constructive comments of your own there’s no opportunity for anyone to refute it - like I just did with the Zboril news. Just calm down. This site is supposed to be fun. You’re welcome to share your opinions but no one is here for you to act like the be all, end all of AGMs

That's a bad trade that has no basis in reality. I have travelled to San Jose and Northern California. It's beautiful and could see Hertl declining Boston for that reason alone besides 8,137,500 other ones per year for 8 years. No one wants to play for Boston? Shame on you. You know that's not true. My question to you is if San Jose is the place to be why do they have to overpay and over term so many of their good players into their late 30's to get them to stay there?

How We Move Forward From Here
<a href="/users/bruinsdude77" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">@bruinsdude77</a>, you hit the nail on the head with this deadline. Overpaid to get Lindholm with retention, then didn't use that cap space to address this forward group, which has a hard enough time getting to 3 goals against the likes of SEA, MTL, CHI, ARZ, etc., let alone the stiff defense and goaltending they'll face in the playoffs.
This team was already good enough at limiting the opposition to 2 or fewer goals each night, so why did they use their biggest trade assets to fix an area that wasn't broken? Seems like a recipe for a 1st rd exit in the playoffs, and with no 1st rd pick in the draft Sweeney will be sulking in the corner looking at ANA take a player the Bruins needed for future success; and he realizes he could have just waited to sign Lindholm in UFA.

You guys have serious issues if you really believe that.</div></div>
I have seen it multiple times. 🤷🏻♂️
I have seen multiple offers of 1st/prospect/player that were overpayments screamed at by SJ fans from multiple teams.
Any pick you get is going to be late. Nobody picking early are deadline buyers.
As far as Debrusk goes. Same age and production, higher ceiling, smaller contract than Labanc. Have not heard 1 Sharks fan call Labanc a 4th liner. Up until recently they expected a minimum of a 1st for him. With his dropoff they still expect a minimum of a 2nd for him. Yet Debrusk in their collective eyes is a 4th line cap dump. So tell me, who are the delusional ones? Lol.
As far as this offer goes it’s not a good one, when you factor in retention/SJ sending a pick back/no prospect involved it falls well short.

Can they even trade for big name players
Lysell, Lohrei, 1sts can get anyone available . Don’t have to be deep just need a a couple.
The real question is should they? They can’t afford to trade away the few valuable prospects for rentals for that very reason.
Outside of the prospect pool being shallow, it is, the rest of your take is pretty bad.
Boston has a long history of bringing in mediocre vets to block young players.
People had written off Zboril and Urho for the same reason you brought up, they had not been brought up an made an impact. Depth chart matters. Zboril was buried behind Chara, Krug, Grizz for a couple of years. You benching them? When Z and TK left Zboril took a spot and had some good moments and growing pains before getting hurt last year. This year was playing very well. His injury and Covid made calling up Urho a necessity, now he’s been playing 22m a night on the 1st pair and playing well. Both need a permanent spot in the lineup next year.
It’s about opportunity.
Steen forced his way not only to stay up but in the lineup when he got the chance. Same with Blidh.
Studnicka is the next one. Written off by many because it seems like he’s been around forever. He’s 22. College senior age. Less than 100 games in the AHL while averaging .79ppg there. If he was somewhere else he’d have a role. In Boston he has to wait.
2015 7 picks in first 3 rounds. 5 are in the NHL. Senyshyn, the only really bad pick, leading Prov in goals. JFK in Europe to be close to family. Were mistakes made, sure, they went off board and it cost them. A Donny trait for years to come. Had they taken 1 of the guys they passed on instead of Seny nobody would mention 2015 other than to say what a great draft it was for them. How often does a team pull 5 or 6 NHLers in one draft? I remember Edmonton having 11 picks in a draft and not one of them ever played in the NHL. Pretty much every team, every year, could have drafted better. It’s not a sure thing.

Still calling this trade a joke and one of the worst you’ve seen in weeks is very over the top. Especially when you have a post of your own where the return was a prospect, 1st and a 2nd.

bruins are not physical no more because of cassidy.
cassidy was a 5'11 175lbs offensive dman he build his tea maround how he played hockey that's why he play so much favour towards dmen like krug, grzz, ahcan who are 5'9.
i know this is off topic but in my personal opinion cassidys needs to be fired he has relied on the 1st lines production for way too long, we have had so many good 2nd, 3rd liners but get no success because his system is absolutely ass.
to many statements are coming out about cassidy that arent positives
-JD wants out doesn't like cassidy
- Frederic comes out says cassidy told him to stop fighting and tone down his physicality, was mad because he isn't aloud to be protector no more for the skilled guys.
wanted to make a statement to nashville after forsberg took a cheap shot at bergy but cassidy shut it down. way to protect your captain and star player
- Backes had a whole podcast about cassidy and him being a bit of an asshole and isn't willing to embrace players strengths they have to play the way cassidy wants them to.
he tried turning backes from a power forward/ bruiser to a skilled/ speedy guy. makes sense tried to soften backes didn't work now trying to soften freddy and forbort and foligno
- Teams goes on a streak when sacco was coaching (cassidy covid out), played really good hockey beat some big dogs and just looked re-energized even missing marchand and mcavoy for a bit,
the minute cassidy comes back we stop trying and look effortless get spanked by vegas.
- Cassidy first interview back tells sacco " head coaching job isn't yours yet"
not only is that toxic towards the guy he is supposed to be working with to do better but it also seems like he doesn't care and knows his time is coming to an end
- this one is from a tweet unsure if it is true or not yet but apparently
"Cassidy has lost the locker room. Bergeron yelled at cassidy for yelling at grzz and singling out players infront of the team to often"
buddy guy had a few good years got to his head is turning into torts, to media driven needs to focus more hockey and what he can do better as a coach rather then playing the blame game

Well, the thing about trades is you can’t just say, “here’s what we want to give you,” and expect anything to happen. Bruins have negative interest in kassian.
For all the hoopla about debrusk playing at the bottom of his range, he’s still on like an 18 goal per 82 pace. He’s what? 24? That doesn’t stink.

Bruins Prospect Update Part 5
This is great, thanks for doing this. Lysell seems to be growing more and more comfortable on the smaller ice, even on days when he's not on he has flashes of brilliance. Wouldnt be surprised to see his PPG continue to uptick as the season goes on. Hopefully he carries some of that confidence into the World J's.
I've been so impressed with Lohrei's poise and collectiveness. He plays with so much confidence in the offensive zone and transition for a guy who is in his first year of NCAA (overager or not). Love how he has some nasty in his game too.
I think at this point for Beecher, I would like to see him pan out as an Adam Lowry type of player. A guy who can play physical, defensive, smart hockey with pace. I think that is attainable, and still valuable to the organization.
I've tried to watch Gallagher a bit, and hes been impressive, It is hard to say how much of his game will translate to higher levels, but for a freshman defensemen and 7th round pick its hard not be happy with how he's played.
The rest I've only gotten limited views and just checked the numbers. Thanks for being on top of this stuff, its good to know and fun to talk about!

Disagree vehemently. I think you are failing to take into account the value of the respective contracts. Miller turns 29 at the end of this season and is signed for one more year. Carlo is about to turn 25 and is signed for five more years, at a ridiculously low cap hit. Regardless of their on-ice value, and the difference isn't as much as you think, the discrepancy between contract provisions is gigantic.

Eichel to Boston
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Aasen6</b></div><div>How do you figure? There’s nothing in that trade worth more than a 2nd round pick</div></div>
Easy, You have no idea what Eichel is going to be from here on out. Nobody is giving up a pile of assets for an unknown. It’s a huge risk. `You want to drain your bank account to buy a Ferrari with no engine feel free. It’s not wise.
Boston’s farm system is 💩. You will get no help from it for years after this move.
Cap issues. Multiple contracts with NMCs creating little wiggle room.
So many obstacles to make it work.
The only way Boston is making a run at Eichel is if Bergy tells him he’s retiring and Eichel has proven healthy and unaffected by whatever treatment he goes through..
By then the price will increase and they don’t have the kind of assets to outbid others along with Buffalo’s desire to move him out of division/conference.
Eichel to Boston is just not happening. The only conceivable way is Buffalo decides to move him immediately and everyone else is to scared to pull the trigger leaving Boston with the by far the best offer on the table. In other words, same odds as the winning the lottery.
