<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>vinny82</b></div><div>Sure metabolism plays a factor in how people gain weight I am not denying that, however everyone has a base TDEE they need for maintenance which accounts for metabolism. For example, a 5'11 165 lb male athlete training 2x per day needs roughly 3500 calories per day just to maintain weight at 165. In order to gain steadily 1-1.5 lbs a week they need 3800-4000 per day, 28,000 per week, and someone with a higher metabolism should be taking in over 4000 per day. Some people just under estimate just how much they actually need to eat to hit 4000 calories per day, especially when eating "clean" as people like to call it. 4000 calories per day is an actual insane amount of food when you are talking about grilled chicken, beef, rice, fruit and veggies.</div></div>

Flyers offseason outs
I'd be interested in seeing Risto in Anaheim Orange, for the right acquisition price. We wouldn't need any retention which may be more appealing to Philly even at a lower return.

If the Flyers eat half on Hayes and toss in Seeler, with the Canes upgrading the pick to a 2nd, I think there is a deal to be worked out here.

If you want TK with 50% retention, Hart, and Laughton, the Leafs have nothing to offer that could make this trade other than Knies. You can go yell at a walk for all I care that ur not trading Knies but you don’t have enough to put together for those 3 flyers if that’s the case doesn’t matter how many mid prospects and late picks you throw in

I'll echo <a href="/users/Jfstompers" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">@Jfstompers</a> in saying that I don't think that "freeing up" cap space is a priority for a team that has 18 NHL players under contract for next season and less than $62 million in cap hits. I don't see them spending that extra first on Hayes.
Travis Konecny is a very fine player but Los Angeles has a logjam at forward and the needs are at LhD and in goal. Cal Petersen isn't a cap dump at $1 million in 2024-2025 and $2 million in 2025-2026. And I think that the controversy-averse LA front office won't be interested in Ivan Provorov. In short, Sanheim and/or Hart might be on our horizon, but not Konecny and Provorov. As my esteemed friend <a href="/users/MNKingsFan" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">@MNKingsFan</a> says, this is a poor fit for Los Angeles.

Hayes god I hope not
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>vinny82</b></div><div>Honestly as a flyers fan who has watched Hayes the past couple of years the hate is overblown. At the time of his contract the center market was bone dry, he was essentially the best option, he probably should have been paid around 5 mil per as 7 mil is steep, but with the cap going up I don't even have an issue keeping him. He's been one of our best players offensively and pretty consistent. He is very slow and not physical for his size thats his big downfall, but finds a way to slow the game down and make good plays, his shot is good, and he has a solid finish when he gets the chance. If you put him on a line with a play maker he will score. He is JVR light version in JVRs prime.</div></div>
I don’t have a problem with him as a a player at all. I just don’t want Columbus to give up assets for a 31 year old middle 6 center making 7 million a year. When they are so far away from contending.

Philly passes on that deal… giving up the 4 youngest players in a deal is never smart… adding in a first is just major overkill
Not to mention Philly takes on a lot of money in this deal and will be over cap by like 5 million
Oh and if Philly could retain half of JVR for a first, they’d have done it lol

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ReelBigFan</b></div><div>Very very far off on TKs value… rights hold very little value</div></div>
I'm not on the TK train. He struggled mightily last year having 8 goals through the first 46 games but was able to finish strong. He has been openly frustrated at times and I think with his salary / production now might be a good time to move him while he still has the value you guys are talking about.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>tm0000</b></div><div>Isn't Ellis supposed to be ready to play by training camp, or at least early in the season?</div></div>
Two very in the know local reporters have mentioned Ellis not possibly not playing again so I think that's a little too optimistic which is why I think they're in a better spot for JohnnyG. Don't fill these "needs" everyone is talking about. Let young guys step in and you still add the high end talent that the Flyers have missed for the last 10 years.

Provorov, however, doesn’t have a RHD he can trust to shoot or play well in his own zone so that also handicaps him. He played with York a bit last year and looked like a damn stud again. Just about having a partner that can play for him</div></div>
1- Well, that's not accurate.
2- Hmm. The large majority of Provy's last two seasons (at evens) was spent alongside Justin Braun. Braun's defensive metrics are not insignificantly better in his TOI away from Provy. And I'm not sure how wonderful Provy could be with York when they were statistically poor together, and each was considerably better with other partners. Provy is a giveaway machine who now hits about half as much as he used to a few years back. He has been poor against 2nd tier competition for a long while now. Could he suddenly return to amazingness with Parayko by his side? I suppose. But it would be a gamble, and not just because he'd now need to face 1st tier competition every night.

Yup, something is very clearly wrong there to a point where I'd need proof of the contrary to believe he's a part of this teams future. I think the one semi-brightside to him not coming back is it sort of forces management closer to the direction of "giving it a year to see where the team is at" as opposed to going all in

He's been asked to do much more than expected in Philly and was solid in his role. When he was resigned people assumed that they would have him play on the bottom pair but with the injury to Ellis he has been asked to play top pair minutes again. Assuming that he'll be on the third pair I think it's a great depth pick up especially at the cost of a 3rd

if Giroux walks to FA or gets traded
hayes contract was a disaster before he even played a game. his ceiling was... a 2nd line center. already in his mid 20s. who was guaranteed to fall off (and was already showing signs of doing so in his short stint in Winnipeg). guys like Bill Meltzer tried to justify it... I remember a tweet specifically that really pissed me off. it was like "wELL thEy EssEntiALLy traDed aWay thE DaLe WEise and *insert other player that i forget here, maybe jori lehtera i forget* coNTracTS foR kEviN HaYES! ITS A GOOD CONTRACT GUYS TRUST ME" well the 1st year was good and thats about all we get. Coots has regressed so much offensively that he looks like how he did 6 years ago. A 2nd line center at best who is good at defense but cant do anything worth a damn offensively. G, Hart, and Provy are the only guys who have done their part this year. Everyone else can f off lol. We need to keep young guys like York, Zamula, Frost, and Allison in the lineup and package everyone else for either picks or young guys. Hayes is staying because his contract is unmovable. Id like to see them get rid of Coots for a good prospect or a high 1st rounder before his value depletes more. A lot of teams could use him. Kings showed that having that two way center depth can make once terrible teams real contenders instantly. i dont care much for the flyers anymore lol they have tainted any reputation for anyone that watches them. no one is coming to games (for the first time in our history) and covid doesnt really have much of an impact on that. no one wants to watch the flyers, they are old, bad, poorly managed, and they dont even have a real owner. dark times are ahead and we are already seeing them. this is very dramatic im sorry

I forget the insider but on Puck Empire I believe Friedman said that the relationship between the Blues and Tarasenko is beyond repair. This was a couple of days ago as well. I agree the trade should have more value in it but Konecny has been racking up assists in his past couple of games and still is younger. How would Konecny plus a B prospect and a 3rd or so. Just trying to gauge Tarasenkos value as he still said he wants out
