a 2nd round pick and tall 50-goal scorer in the O doesn't give you the rights to a player?
Pretty sure TDA isn't resigning in CAR so that is a tremendous deal for CAR imo.

Why just say “Detroit Declines” when it’s a perfectly even trade? I mean I can understand this type of reply when it’s a terrible trade but this one seems fair and well thought out.

Can’t add something substantiated to the post? Don’t bother posting on someone’s efforts.

I figure this is a similar return to what Tampa got for Mcdonough, and Tony D should get a similar contract and its a similar situation with a team up against the cap, Hurricanes aren't able to resign him and he was given the right to be able to shop his services.

Detroit isn't going to give up their best winger for a LD when there are a whole boatload of teams in cap trouble trying to unload LD this summer.

This shouldn't have to be pointed out to you. PIT, VGK, WPG and several other teams are desperate to get rid of LD and it's a buyers market this summer. Detroit can fill their needs for a tiny fraction of what getting Provorov costs.

Ratcliffe? I get he scored 50 when he was the biggest and oldest guys on the ice but he hasnt score 50 in 4 seasons of AHL combined. He isnt much of a prospect anymore needless to say worth the statement "50 goal scorer."

Provorov is a good player and arguably a top pair defenseman on nearly every team in the NHL. Nobody is trying to “unload” a player like him.

I can understand the redwings having a plethora of LD prospects coming up like Edvinsson, Johanssen & Wallinder but, Provorov is more valuable than Bertuzzi at this point. A top pair d-man is always worth more than a top 6 winger, especially one that is (as of now), limited in terms of his ability to take the ice for an 82 game season.

A top pair d-man is not more valuable than a top line winger when you don't need a top pair d-man. Right now Bertuzzi is worth a lot more to Detroit than an expensive defender is due to there being a plaethora of defenders that aren't expensive to choose from. We can very very easily get the defenders we need without giving up our top line winger.

“Our” top line winger isn’t a top line winger on every other team. I’m Tyler Bertuzzi’s literal biggest fan, but I’m not going to allow my emotion suggest he’s more valuable than a top pair defenseman or that he’s a top line winger on every team in the NHL; he isn’t.

Ivan Provorov has not done anything to prove he's a top pairing D. He had a bad season. And he is not a "top pairing defenseman on nearly every team in the league". Give it a rest. And you're not Bertuzzi's "literal biggest fan" if you think he's not worth more than Provorov.

This is getting close to a deal for Cat I would imagine. The 24' 1st will be a sticking point, maybe replace with Andrae and there could be something here.

You’re right I should’ve given a reason. Now are you correcting everyone who does this or just me? I’m guessing it’s just me so you’re mad I didn’t respond to your explanation and realistically after I read it I felt I had already wasted time on it so I didn’t respond.

Detroit declines because Bertuzzi is more valuable than Provorov. Bertuzzi has improved his production every single season he put up almost a point a game and scored 30 goals this season. Why give up a 30 gaol scorer for a player we don’t even know if we need. Detroit has some very good LHD prospects and odds are not all of them will work out as expected but we have no idea so why not wait a season or 2 before shipping out a 30 goal scorer because Detroit isn’t a playoff team yet. Yzerman has preached patience from day 1 and that is what Yzerplan is all about. It’s obvious from your ACGMs and posts that you don’t have a lot of patience or you just don’t agree with the Yzerplan. But trying to end the rebuild by trading multiple assets for a single player or trying to buy your way out of a rebuild overspending on UFAs is exactly how you end up in a never ending rebuild. Like Arizona, Buffalo, Vancouver and those are just a few examples. Now ask yourself if Provorov is so good why are a good portion of Flyers fans so quick to move him out. It can’t be age because he is 2 years younger than Bertuzzi. Is it cap hit Bertuzzi next contract will probably be just as much if not higher.

No, I did not intentionally single you out. It was a string of wings’ fan glorifying our mediocre players (not Bertuzzi), like Sundqvist or Zadina and immediately shutting down trade suggestions as if we’re sitting on a gold mine with these players.

Nothing personal to you; thanks for the explanation. And to clarify, I personally wouldn’t do the trade for the exact reasons you mentioned, I just think it was a trade that was at least worth a conversation.

And regarding my ACGM posts, I have a mix of rebuild focused and expedited offseasons and personally, I prefer an approach of continuing to acquire assets/draft picks while taking on contracts from teams with a year or two left. I’m in no hurry to compete with this team, nor is this roster equipped to do so.

Not similar situations at all. Canes can afford to sign him assuming they cap dump Gardiner or worst case buy him out. Arb gets him a bridge deal in the 5m range most likely but canes don’t want to go to arb with anyone. They let tda go see what’s out there which again is what they generally do with their RFAs and UFAs and if he gets a massive offer from a couple of teams canes can negotiate a trade or they can just match the offer or they can go to arb if they think he’ll get less there than on open market. They’ve got plenty of options and leverage so it’s really nothing like the McD situation. Especially since the type of player, age and team situation is vastly different.
