Because Panarin has been ineffective on the left for a while because he's predictable. Everyone knows his backhand pass is coming cause he's got to wind up. He loses a lot of board battles and turns it over easy. He should spend some time on his natural side.

This team doesn't have the capacity to capitalize on this type of move this season. It would be a desperation move, which you should never do. Last year was all Igor and a powerplay that benefitted from a league wide shock reaction to a stiffening of the crosschecking penalty in front of the net. After the TDL this team was also loaded with talent, which took them much further than the bones of the roster deserved to go on it's own.

You add Kane and maybe that gives you a couple even strength goals a game. The structure still bleeds high quality chances. It wouldn't be enough to warrant putting all your eggs in this basket. I'd play out the season and let chips fall where they may instead of making bad investments based on unmanaged expectations derived from a lucky stretch.

They have the same issues they had last year except Igor isn't stealing games for them anymore. If the coaching staff has no solutions for them from a strategic standpoint besides cracking the whip, shaking the jar, and poopooing their players to the press, I don't expect the results to be different. You can have the best soldiers in the world, but if your mission planning is shallow and not up to par, there is only so much you can do.

Sujet: they cant even buy a win right now

The team shouldn't be saying "we have to find a way to play a better game", that is a massive indictment on the coaching staff. You can't outwork a lack of structure. I don't understand how an organization with so much money doesn't flex that by having the best of the best in coaching, with a commitment to constantly improving their craft, to go with their elite player. Just demonstrates a disinterest in winning.
