As for the Oilers trade I saw you're earlier comment about PJ and though that he would be perfect for the line but it's really just a base but I could see true potential there as with Kane you don't really need PJ anymore and his relationship with Edmonton is probably still a bit rocky.</div></div>
I can’t reply to that other guy because I have him on ignore, for good reason, but here’s the Senators defencemen giveaway numbers from Oct 15 on. Zaitsev had a terrible first game of the season, and it’s skewed his seasons numbers from, day one. Here are the teams final 81 games, among defencemen.

What is this crap?
You trade for Ladd, who you then trade for Del Zotto, who you then trade for Ferland.
You made this 22/23, which means Arizona pays Ladd’s signing bonus, and with 31% retained on the remaining $1MM, Ottawa would owe Ladd $690K. If Ottawa buys Ladd out, they reduce that to $460K, just for taking the $3.565MM cap hit over 2 seasons, $3.335MM in 22/23, and $230K in 23/24.

You’re trying to do too much in one trade, it’s convoluted.
NHL GM’s, with a max of 50 contracts, aren’t taking 4 contracts for 1, and they don’t usually give 3 picks for none.
There’s no rush to trade Zaitsev, except to appease the haters. If Dorion gets into a position where he needs to trade Zaitsev, he’ll do it at the TDL, when playoff teams are looking for D.

People keep complaining about Zaitsev, and they have no idea what he brings to the team, and his salary is irrelevant. Zaitsev, Murray, and White were all needed to make the cap floor the last couple seasons. Next season we're looking at around a $70MM opening day cap hit. The following season it will be closer to $80MM, but probably not over. At that point, both Zaitsev and Murrays contracts expire. Don't worry about Zaitsev's contract and how much he makes. People that complain about Zaitsev always point to his salary first, as if that's a credible argument. It isn't for any team not near the cap ceiling.
Zaitsev is an NHL defenceman. he is the first defenceman over the boards on the PK, the 13th best PK in the league this season. The past couple seasons Ottawa has had to deal with Coburn, Gudbranson, and a severily declining Hainsey on the PK.
There's a reason Zaitsev has 2:49 of SH time per game. Smith doesn't want to play Zub on the PK, or the PP actually, he wants him on 5v5, that's where Zub excels. You get rid of Zaitsev, and Zub spends more time on the PK. JBD will eventually replace Zaitsev, let it happen when he's ready, not when fans are throwing temper tantrums over a defensive defenceman playing a defensive role.
Zaitsev had 5 solid months, and 1 bad month, relative to his teammates

3rd in blocked shots by defencemen

Zaitsev's first season in Ottawa wasn't great, but he's been solid these last two seasons

Defencemen are irrelevant to Bailey, and irrelevant to the Sens reaching the cap floor on opening day if you're considering them to be moved in a year. You're just pulling crap out of the air now.

Also there are a ton of centers in there. Its obviously pretty easy to just move one of them to the wing but you never know. Plus, after the Hamonic deal you really never know with these guys</div></div>
I stopped reading at "cap floor". It's obvious you don't know anything about the Senators
$59,055,714 total cap already alloted for next season
RFA's to sign
Norris
Formenton
Joseph
Gambrell
Gaudette
Brännström
Mete
After Norris signs for $6MM-$7MM, and Formenton & Joseph receive about $3MM combined, three more forwards and that puts the Sens over $70MM
And you think Ottawa needs help getting over the cap floor, lol

Senators don't need another "middle 6 winger". After their best four (Stützle, Batherson, Norris, Tkachuk), they have;
Brown, Joseph, White, Formenton, Pinto
That's nine forwards
Ottawa is looking for a top6 foward, which would mean they already have one too many top9 forwards. Bailey just makes it worse.

Rem Pitlick was acquired off waivers Jan 12th, and we can only assess his possible change in value from then until today, so it's 3 months after acquisition, and trying to stretch it to 6-9 months does not make your argument stronger, it makes it weaker because you're being disingenuous with the time frame.
My point is, sugesting that I mentioned he was a waiver wire pickup was not just distracting from the main point, but incorrect. You can believe what you want, but waiver wire pickups are considered, "one mans trash" so to speak. He wasn't a top 14 forward.
And no he isn't "another mans treasure" either, he's depth

You need the nuances of waiver wire pickup valuations explained? Do you realize how many variables are involved in that? Yes a player can alter his value after being picked up, but so can every player change their value game to game. It's like draft position, it has value, but it's less relevant the further from the draft day, but still relevant for some time.
Now, are you purposely arguing the minutia to distract from the point that the waiver wire pickup isn't worth the pieces in the trade scenario?
