Which of the contracts are aggressive? I feel like with the cap going up, these are all fair deals if not team -friendly. Byrum playing with Dahlin could become an $8M player, Quinn has the talent for a 70+ point season, Levi could be incredible, etc, etc

Futures for McCann - any chance SEA considers this
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>AEcho</b></div><div>What KrakBirds23 is the other side of this coin as McCann isn't old enough to not be impactful when a lot of SEA's prospects come up in earnest in 2-3 years. He will barely be 30-31 when that happens. I tend to think very optimistically when it comes to the draft, but it is a bit of a risk for SEA to take considering what McCann has done for them. If the deal did happen I wouldn't be upset, but I wouldn't be upset either if SEA just stays the course.</div></div>
The other idea I've had that I wouldn't mind both of you chiming in on is bringing Skinner back in a McCann trade for an even larger package to replace some of his immediate production on retained salary. Would essentially be weaponzing the cap space you have available with maintained current production and a larger haul of futures - interesting idea I think

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>KrakBirds23</b></div><div>What AEcho said but i'm closer to there is no way Seattle considers it. They need offense now, and the stuff in the pipeline is at a minimum 2-3 years out. So trading their top goal scorer isn't getting them that in this offer. Unless Benson or Cozens is coming back it's not happening. And I don't think Buffalo wants to trade either of them.</div></div>
See my quote response to AEcho, the Kraken to me aren't contending with McCann on the roster unless some crazy crazy stuff happens this offseason, so why take the Minnesota Wild route and just be happy with a ceiling of getting bounced in the first round of the playoffs when you can cash in for a guarenteed super high ceiling roster in the future

Futures for McCann - any chance SEA considers this
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>AEcho</b></div><div>I think you are right that SEA thinks hard about this offer and I could see a world where they take it, however, it would all depend on who is available at 11OA. McCann has been a cornerstone for SEA thus far, and moving him doesn't start a rebuild for SEA, but it likely extends the time in which they have to wait for them to be truly competitive for 2-3 years from now to more like 4-5 years, which is well into the prime of some players that SEA has on roster now like Dunn, Berniers, and Tolvanen.
That said, I could see a world where SEA is able to get someone like Dickinson or Buium and then able to grab another defenseman like Yakemchuk or Silayev to really round out their defensive pipeline. SEA's forward depth is already really strong thanks to some breakout seasons from current prospects and the addition of Kulich.</div></div>
This would be such a fun blockbuster draft trade if it was announced when the Sabres got on the clock, the NHL needs more of stuff like this. I haven't watched a ton of seattle games, but to me, it seems like they won't be a true contender in the west in next 2-3 years regardless of McCann, they just don't have the top end developed talent to get there and it's an aging/middling roster. This trade gives them a chance to reload and truly set up the next generation of Kraken players for long term success with a core that is some mix of Beniers, Wright, Tolvanen, Kulich, Rehkopf, Sale, Firkus, Goyette, Nyman, Morrison, Molgaard at F and Dunn, 8th overall, 11 overall, Evans, Ottavainen, even Joki/Borgen etc at D. That future to me is more exciting than the current one with McCann on the roster

I kinda made this trade as a placeholder for "Get Skinner off the roster with as little retained as possible and avoid a buyout." It can really be any team with any futures attached. If he puts up like 25+ goals and 55+ points next season in a 3rd line role, I feel like his value wouldn't be as low on the market as people think given at this point he would only have 2 years left and the cap keeps increasing. Good trade chip for a team that needs to hit the cap floor

Would rather do something like this than buy him out, every dollar saved from that Skinner contract will be critical. I'd even consider giving up the 2025 1st to get him off the roster with nothing retained. If the Sabres 2024/25 season goes this well, futures will not matter cuz there will be no room left in the lineup

It's not about wanting to trade him, I think he's going to be a great NHL player, but it's a numbers game with these Sabres prospects cuz not all of them are going to stay and you need to give up something good to get something good. I don't want to give up Savoie and Kulich has more value than Rosen, Ostlund, and the 2024 1st, so... that's why he's the best candidate to go in a trade like this

He's not a star that gets the people going, but I genuinely think Joki can fill the spot needed on a cost controlled deal and would be a great partner for Heinola. If you guys sign Demelo, your blue line will still be in pretty good shape. Maybe there is a 2nd move needed that won't come from an Ehlers trade. Kulich isn't a future either, he's as NHL ready as Lambert. Hopefully you can retain Monahan at 2C

Future Cap Space
I genuinely think Sissons would be the perfect 3C for the Sabres, but I also genuinely think he's worth that much to Nashville given their center depth is super shallow. Colt in a vacuum probably isn't worth that, but he just seems so critical to that Nashville lineup. Only thing that could change here is if they make a trade or sign an FA at C. I think the sabres can do better on a value standpoint, but I wouldn't hate this deal

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>KrakenTheCode</b></div><div>Interesting idea, and I appreciate the thought you've put into this. I don't think the value is bad on the Kraken's end, but considering McCann is probably worth something close to Kulich and the first on his own, I don't know if there is enough to convince Seattle to take Skinner <em>and</em> give back Tanev and a second. The Kraken are also looking to improve their scoring, so trading their leading scorer and downgrading that spot while adding $2.5M in cap would be counterproductive. While the future assets would be nice, ultimately I don't see Seattle making this deal. But props for trying something different.</div></div>
I really appreciate this response, thank you. As a Sabres fan, McCann for me is one of the most perfect fits for us on the market in my opinion given his contract. Regardless of Skinner going the other way, I'd be willing to overpay him if there is any slim chance the Kraken would consider a move. Kulich on Wright or Beniers wing for the future would be exciting as well

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Hammerwise</b></div><div>Someone is still paying 7.5mil for 3 yrs for a 32 yr old guy who's ONLY put up 60 or more pts 4 times in a 14 yr career, and is probably going to drop off a ledge from the 45 pts he scored this year with good players and good playing time to nothing. Its also about team structure, you cant pay a guy 7.5mil for that production AND then justify to Berniers why they should only get 2-3mil when they're ELC expires OR justify to your fans that you're a small market club that cant compete in a free market for UFAs (which was what BUF has been saying).
You're kind of getting the best player in the deal right now AND maybe ever (the others are prospects who might not turn out) and you are dumping the worst commodity (Skinner) who is worth more than a 1st and Komarov to dump, even at 7.5mil. Its 7.5mil for 3 yrs.</div></div>
If I'm the Kraken, I would still think long and hard about accepting this. You're essentially get Kulich who is pretty much NHL ready, a 2025 1st, Joki (who's not nothing and is probably worth around a 2nd) for a forward who is a tier below McCann, slightly older, and slightly more expensive who in a top 6 role on that team can very easily get 30+ goals and 60+ points for next year and even 25-26.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Hammerwise</b></div><div>its a huge amount to dump skinner, but I still think its not enough.
9mil for an older guy who is close to 45 pts a season than 80 pts for 3 more years takes a very special GM.
And while Tanev is overpaid, theres a big difference between what each player is/does and 3.5 to 9mil. McCann himself is probably worth the 2025 1st and Jokiharju and some of Komarov, which leaves skinner, kulich and some of Komarov for tanev, still not enough.
While I love Kulich and believe in him, the fact is that you're banking on the BUF 2025 1st being a lower pick than the 2024 pick and that Komarov, an intriguing and upper midlevel prospect is still just a 5th round upper midlevel prospect, possibly over-egged because hes in a system that isnt strong in prospects on the defensive side, both show you hedging your bets a bit.
But ultimately its about Skinner and his 9mil, I dont think youre close enough to the overpayment it will take to move him</div></div>
Even with $1.5M retained on Skinner's contract? I think that makes this more than fair
